Whistler

Rated again and again as North America’s best ski resort, Whistler has it all. Over 200 trails spread between two peaks (Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains) and linked by the famous Peak2Peak gondola, the resort has become the pride and joy of Canada’s Pacific North West.

The resort boasts a mix of chalet-style apartments, inns, lodges and condo’s, and pedestrian-friendly streets, the whole place is as beautiful as it is practical and heaps of fun!

The skiing and snowboarding is world class, and will suit all needs- both off piste and on- carefully groomed nursery slopes with ski schools, plenty to easy blue and green slopes for those finding their feet in the snow, and even of more options for those at a more intermediate level including the bowls and the Extremely Canadian off-piste tours for those who fancy something a little more daring.

If you’re more suited for the après-ski, you can kick back in the mountain bars, Whistler offers a superb array of night life for once you’ve hung up your skis and boots for the day. Including top of the range restaurants and numerous bars that are open serving champagne and nibbles from the moment the lifts close until dinner time.

Into the night, Whistler is host to a fantastic variety of clubs and bars for those who fancy a spot of dancing. Anyone craving a cocktail at happy hour, there are also plenty of comfortable lounges to indulge in after the sun dips beneath the mountains.

Things to do in resort

Whistler restaurants, food and drink

Whistler is proud of its huge variety of restaurants and bars dotted throughout the village.

From fine dining with views of the mountains at the Bearfoot Bistro, Alto Bistro and Hy’s Steakhouse, through to the smaller, cheap’n’cheerful lunches offered at the Thunderbird Cafe and La Cantina, there is a huge range of gastronomy on offer in Whistler.

Enjoy the best that Whistler has to offer with our Whistler Tasting Tour which starts at £65 per person and goes straight from après ski into the evening.

Whistler après, bars, clubs and nightlife.

There are plenty of evening options for those looking to shake off their boots and get down on the dance floor after a long day of skiing.

After a day of skiing and riding on the mountain, enjoy some après at Dusty’s Bar and BBQ at the base of the Creekside Gondola (can be accessed by the Lower Peak to Creek blue slope from the top of Whistler mountain). The original après ski bar that was built in Whistler in the 1970’s has undergone a huge refurbishment but still holds on to some of that mountain cabin charm.
For those looking for something a little crazier, there’s Garfinkel’s Night Club and Moe Joe’s, both venues host guest DJ’s and regular themed nights out into the small hours of the morning.

Whistler tourism office offers a fantastic deal on bars and nightclubs with the ‘Whistler Club Crawl’- Make the most of the vibrant nightlife on a Saturday night as your group moves between two bars and three clubs. Tickets include three drinks, line priority and guest list access.

Whistler shopping

Whistler is a great place to indulge in a bit of holiday shopping, offering a variety of different kinds of stores including those selling sports clothes and equipment (including the Quicksilver, The North Face and Salomon brand stores), fashion, luxury items and local crafts.

There are also many gift shops around the village that offer authentic and traditional Native American souvenirs.

Whistler spas and relaxation

With all of the sport and non-stop ‘go’ attitude around Whistler, sometimes you just need to kick back and relax.

The famous Scandinave Spa in Whistler incorporates age-old Finnish traditions of soaking and soothing in hot climes, and plunging into cold water showers for a real sensory experience!

Relax your aching muscles with various other top-notch spas around the village, and enjoy a spot of yoga in the YAMA YOGA centre on the Main Street, and also enjoy the summer wellbeing festival of Whistler Wanderlust, a celebration of mindful living.

Whistler arts, culture and events

In Whistler there is a wide selection of unique local art galleries, museums and collections including the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, built to preserve the history and culture of the Squamish and Lil’wat Nations. The centre hosts a wide variety of educational events and experiences.

There is a huge array of cultural events and festivals happening in and around Whistler all year, including ‘Cornucopia Whistler, a celebration of food and drink produced locally in the British Columbia. The festival runs for 10 days in November.

There is also the world famous Pride and Ski festival in January, the biggest gay and lesbian ski festival there is! The festival runs for a week and is easily the most colourful festival that the season has to offer.

Finally, there is the World Ski and Snowboard Festival (WSSF) in April, exclusive to Whistler, this is another 10 day festival that celebrates snow sports, music and all around the clock partying and good times.
