This friendly and traditional hotel is beautifully decorated in wood and stone, giving it a warm chalet style atmosphere. It is one of our guests most requested hotels and offers excellent value, making it an ideal choice for both families and couples.

Traditional hotel

This charming hotel is loving run by the Mazzega family, who have owned and run the property since 1963. The hotel had been completely renovated in 2009, however retains the alpine charm with wood and stone throughout. Whether you are relaxing in your comfortable bedroom or enjoying a drink in the bar, the wonderful views of Tignes are never far away - the large windows in the bar and dining area are perfect for admiring the nearby lake and surrounding mountain peaks.

Close to the slopes

The pistes are less than a minutes walk away, just head down the slope to the Rosset chair or Tovière gondola for access to the extensive Tignes Val d'Isere slopes. Benefitting from a central location in Le Lac, you have access to the resort facilities including a good choice of restaurants, bars and shops. As the hotel is on a bed and breakfast basis, you can sample local cuisine including fondue, raclette or tartiflette or enjoy more family friendly options such as pizzas.

Tignes

  • Ski to an altitude of 3,456m
  • 300km of skiing across Tignes and Val d'Isere
  • 24 green, 65 blue, 40 red and 32 black runs

Tignes is famous for it's record amounts of snowfall, making it the best place for skiers and snowboarders to carve up the slopes. The area has three main villages: Val Claret, Le Lac and Le Lavachet, which are linked together by a 24 hour free bus service. Val Claret is 2,100 metres high and has a superb position right at the foot of the Grande Motte funicular. Le Lac and Le Lavachet have a more cosy village feel to them and also offer easy access to the slopes and over to Val d’Isère. The villages have a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants and have a lively, friendly, buzz about them. We also have accommodation in Tignes 1850 and Tignes Les Brevieres, which are quieter villages with easy access to the slopes.

Skiing and snowboarding in Tignes

There's a great mix of slopes in Tignes, making it a great place for families and groups of different levels. There's plenty of wide and long runs, through trees and on glaciers. One of the best runs has to be from the top of Grand Motte glacier and down the red into Tignes Val Claret village.

Where to stay in Tignes

We offer accommodation in all of the main villages in Tignes, with Le Lac and Val Claret being the most popular. From the majority of the hotels and apartments you can reach the slopes within a few minutes, making it extremely easy to get onto this world-renowned ski area.

Bars and restaurants in Tignes

Tignes is a lively area with plenty of restaurant and après options, from live bands and happy hours in 'Loop Bar' to delicious local Savoyade fondues in 'Coeur des Neiges'. Tignes Val Claret has the famous 'Cocorico' apres bar and pizzeria, then 'La Folie Douce' is up in the mountains. There's alot of restaurants dotted around the ski area for that well deserved mid-morning hot chocolate and then a lunch break.

Travel Information

All our holidays include return travel to resort either by flight or train and then the transfer between the airport or railway station and Tignes.

All departures are on Saturdays with stays for 7 or 14 nights except our 8 night Eurostar Snow Train package which departs Saturday and returns a week late on the Sunday.

The transfer in Tignes will stop as chose as possible to your chosen accommodation. In some cases there may be a 5 minutes' walk due to the location of the property not being accessible by coach, this includes the Hotel Diva and Apart-Hotel Le Chalet Alpina.

Private transfers and self drive options are available, call to book these.

Please note: The ski bus doesn’t cover all areas, the evening bus runs all night, there is parking but not free and there’s no local car hire available.

Travel By Air

Flights to Chambery or Geneva from 13 UK airports

Transfer Times

  • Chambery airport: approx. 2 hours 15 mins by coach
  • Geneva airport: approx. 3 hours 15 mins by coach

For customers who are booking a Gatwick flight, we highly recommend that you choose the morning Chambery flight for Tignes due to the traffic light system in the Tarentaise Valley. This system controls and slows down the traffic, stopping traffic sitting in dangerous places, like tunnels, where rocks can fall and to make snow clearing easier when it is snowing. This can impact your transfer time, meaning you may arrive into resort later and leaving for the airport earlier.

Please note that transfers may be longer during peak holiday season or bad weather conditions.

Travel by Train (7 nights)

We have a 7 night train option to Tignes that can be booked online.

This is a train that departs and returns Saturdays which a much shorter transfer of 45 minutes from Bourg St Maurice railway station.
