With the convenience of doorstep skiing and finished to a very high standard the Hotel Totem combines modern and vintage furniture and fabrics with a distinctive North American feel. A relaxing spa area is the perfect end to a day on the slopes, with two saunas, a relaxation room and an outdoor whirlpool overlooking the mountains.

Ski and explore Flaine

With an idylic location in Flaine, you can be on the slopes in no time. The slopes and ski lifts are less than 100 metres away, making it easy and convenient to get onto the Grand Massif ski area each day.

The architecture and design of Flaine makes it more like an open-air modern art museum than a traditional ski resort. The Hotel Totem had been designed in keeping of the rest of the resort architecture, the interior of the hotel combines exposed concrete with vintage furniture and fabrics - numerous urban references are matched to the mountain landscape. As well as the distinct architecture, you can also find the works of Pablo Picasso, Jean Dubuffet and Victor Vasarely dotted around the resort.

Unwind and relax

There is nowhere better to be than in the hotels own wellness area, marvel at the mountains from the outdoor whirlpool or sooth your muscles in the sauna. Treat yourself to a massage or a treatment for a moment of rejuvenation, spa treatments are available to book locally for a little extra cost. There is also a fitness room with a variety of equipment available, so you can train for your next ski adventure.

After a day of exploring the mountain, enjoy a drink at the hotel bar serving a range of local beers, French wines and cocktails inspired by the surrounding area. The terrace is a great place to soak up some winter sun, with wonderful views of the slopes and surrounding mountain peaks.

Each evening you have a large choice of dishes, the kitchen team prepare a buffet changing each evening, using local, fresh and seasonal products. There is often regional dishes such as tartiflette and fondue, as well as pizza, hearty soup, and kids' specials.

Flaine is a mountain resort famed for its monumental outdoor sculptures by artists such as Pablo Picasso and its concrete buildings inspired by the Bauhaus style of the 1960s, many of which house ski-in/ski-out accommodation. It's the only 1960s-era ski resort to be classified a French Historical Monument. Flaine is a really friendly, casual, and family-oriented resort with excellent value and facilities. It has a compact centre with numerous cafes, bars, restaurants, and shops. There are plenty of off-piste activities such as swimming, ice skating and a cultural centre with an art gallery that features the work of local and international artists.

Skiing and snowboarding in Flaine

The majority of the skiing is in a large snow bowl, which offers incredible views of Mont Blanc and superb skiing for all abilities. It's also possible to explore the tree-lined runs leading down to the nearby resorts of Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoens, and Sixt with the Grand Massif Lift Pass. The blue Cascades piste is one of the longest pistes in the Alps, descending down into the historic Haut Savoyard village of Sixt Fer-à-Cheval. For advanced skiers, get the Grandes Platieres bubble and follow the signs to the Diamant Noir run, a demanding and steep black run.

Where to stay in Flaine

We offer a selection of accommodation in Flaine Forum and Foret, many of which have easy access to the slopes, including the stunning Residence at Montsoleil and the unique and stylish Hotel Totem.

Bars and restaurants in Flaine

Flaine has a number of bars and restaurants dotted around, both on and off the mountain. There's a variety of shepherd huts on the mountain serving Savoyard specialities, we recommend sampling the fondue in Le Michet. For an after ski drink head to Le White Pub which often has live music and a variety of beers to choose from.
