The Hotel Piccolo is small by name and small by nature. There's just 19 rooms but it's packed with personality. The Ongari and Deflorian families who run the hotel will quickly make you feel at home. It's in a lovely quiet position that catches the best of the sun and it only takes ten minutes or so if you fancy strolling into Canazei. The main Belvedere gondola is a little further on and you can use the shuttle service to and from the lift.

The cosy lounge bar area is the perfect place to socialise and catch up after the day in the mountains, especially when they provide free afternoon tea and cake each day. The large dining room is the main hub of the hotel where you'll be treated to tasty dinners that are prepared with great care and the best ingredients. In true Landin tradition they'll encourage you to relax and take it slow. Give yourself time to enjoy the food, while they look after you.

Having access to the wellness centre is ideal for when you need that little boost of energy when you get back from the slopes. Relax in the Finnish sauna or the Turkish bath, it does wonders for those tired ski legs and leaves you in prime condition for getting out and exploring the next day.

Val di Fassa (Canazei, Campitello, Alba & Penia)

Situated in the heart of the Dolomiti Superski area you will find the vibrant area of Val di Fassa. The valley stretches 9km of which there are a number of incredible villages to choose as the location for your next Inghams holiday. Campitello, Canazei, Alba and Penia each offer their own unique allure and access to unparalleled mountain experiences.

Skiing and snowboarding in Val di Fassa

Skiers and boarders can take to the mountains and explore the vast 1220km of piste all under one lift pass. The local ski area is predominately a haven for intermediate snow sports fans and offers 200km of piste on your doorstep. Take to the Sellaronda circuit with easy access to the sun kissed Val Gardena area to the North or head East towards Arabba, the gateway to the Marmolada glacier.

Outside of skiing you can look forward to valley walks and cross-country trails.

Where to stay in Val di Fassa

Canazei

As one of the largest villages in the Fassa valley, you won't be short of accommodation to choose from in Canazei. Val di Fassa is famous for Italian hospitality. Delicious restaurants serving local, home-cooked cuisine are in abundance. You can expect a lively après ski scene in and around resort, plus plenty of traditional culture and history in the area. The location couldn't be more perfect as the village is situated just below a forest of snow-covered trees and above that is the towering peaks of the almighty Dolomites. In the centre of the village, the Belvedere gondola is the gateway to the famous Sella circuit.

The closest hamlet just down the road is Alba, sat at the foot of the Marmolada and Sella. Here you will find the Col dei Rossi cable car which links directly onto the Sellaronda, so very convenient for the diehard skier.

Slightly further along the valley is Penia, a small but stunning area which is a suntrap on those longed for bluebird days. Between the two areas is the Ciampac 10-seater cable car which at the top has some of the most spectacular views of the entire area. While this is not linked with the superski area, it is a quiet paradise for intermediate and advanced skiers with runs heading out towards the village of Pozza where you can access the quiet slopes of Rosengarten.

The last village to mention is nestled in the middle of the valley, Campitello, sitting to the west of Canazei, is perfect for those looking for a traditional and more relaxed location with direct access onto the mountain via the Col Rodella cable car.

Bars and restaurants in Val di Fassa

Canazei’s centre has shops, terrace cafes, and a unique indoor water park and spa centre, Dòlaondes. Everyone can enjoy the facilities here with six pools, one of which is outdoors and has breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains. You will also find a water slide, fitness area and bar serving food and drink.
