Our Recommended Walks in Lake Bohinj

A Leisurely Walk from Stara Fuzina to Srednja Vas

This gentle stroll through a living museum takes about 1.5 hours one way. It's an easy walk – perfect for when you want to stretch your legs without breaking a sweat. This route is a real eye-candy tour through the Upper Bohinj Valley.

Whether you're on foot or cycling, there's plenty to see. In Stara Fuzina, you can dive into the world of cheese at the Museum of Alpine Dairy Farming. Then, in Studor, check out the Oplen House to see how the locals lived back in the day.

Around these places, there are lots of old, pretty houses that have been there for a very long time. When you hit Srednja Vas, make a pit stop at Restaurant Rupa for a taste of Slovenia on a plate – you won't regret it. From Srednja Vas, you've got choices: retrace your steps or keep the adventure going towards Bohinjska Cesnjica, then over to Bohinjska Bistrica.

Here, you can hop on a bus back or, if you're feeling more adventurous, trek across the ski area Senozete to Savica village and loop back to Ribcev Laz.

The Fuzina to Rudnica Trail

Starting at St John's church and heading towards Stara Fuzina, this trail offers a moderate to challenging walk, lasting about 1.5 hours one way.

Kick things off at St John’s church and make your way towards Stara Fuzina. In about 5 - 10 minutes, you'll take a right across a bridge, then keep an eye out for signs pointing you towards Rudnica.

The turn-off for Pec comes up after a 20-minute uphill walk, where you'll get your first stunning views of the lake. If you're up for it, pushing on to Rudnica will take about another hour.

Once you reach the top, the views of the valley and lake are nothing short of breath-taking. There are a few routes back down, but they're pretty steep, so it might be wisest to retrace your steps. The uphill climb is what bumps up the difficulty level of this walk.
