The Villa Rosa Hotel is a mix of modern style and relaxed vibes, with Desenzano a short walk away. Without question the views are the real highlight. The blue skies reflect in the clear lake and are framed by the hotels lush gardens. Inside you'll feel the chilled atmosphere and swish decor. The rooms echo the rest of the hotel, with a refined style in neutral tones. Being next to the lake, it's great for a wander and its also easy to jump on a ferry to Lake Garda's other resorts, like Sirmione or Bardolino. You can also venture to nearby cities like Verona for a day of shopping, culture, history and even Opera from the nearby train station in Desenzano town.

The heated outdoor pool means its always the right time for a swim. You definitely need to try out the saltwater whirlpool too. Desenzano's public beach is also close by. Rent a sun lounger (payable locally) and enjoy the amazing views of the lake.

Do as the locals do, and enjoy a continental breakfast in the hotel each morning. Evening meals are served in the Rose & Sapori Restaurant, just next door to the hotel. Here you'll have delicious three course meals in a classy setting, complete with lake views. It's closed on Monday's, but this is the perfect opportunity to try out one of Desenzano's many fantastic restaurants. Desenzano

Desenzano combines a lakeside setting with a lively atmosphere. The centre is thriving with bars, cafés, pizzerias and an impressive pedestrianised shopping area. Mingle with the locals as you walk around the narrow streets, stopping to browse the unique items found in some of the family-run boutiques. Stroll a bit further and head uphill to the medieval castle that overlooks the town – you’ll get some of the best views of the lake from up here.

If you want to get some sun, we recommend heading to one of Desenzano’s three public beaches. There's sun loungers and parasols to rent as well as lake-view cafés where you can stop for a drink. The lakeside comes alive in the summer evenings with trendy bars welcoming tourists and locals.

One of the best things about Desenzano is how easy it is to get out and explore. The ferries leave regularly so popular towns like Garda, Peschiera and Sirmione are easy to get to. The town's station has regular trains to both Verona and Venice, which are perfect for day trips. But if you’ve already been or fancy escaping the crowds, we recommend heading to Padua. It’s a small, energetic city that doubles as a museum with the Basilica of St. Anthony’s extraordinary frescoes and a jumble of architecture from Gothic to Renaissance.

Things to do in resort

Holidays in Desenzano give you great access to two harbours and two public beaches. The resort has the best ferry and hydrofoil services on the lake so the main lakeside towns, including Garda, Peschiera and Sirmione, are very accessible. Bus and train connections are excellent and Verona, Venice and Padua are within easy reach.
