Dating back to 1986, the Oswald was once considered to be the best hotel in the Dolomites, and remains as one of Selvas most historic hotels.  With elegant alpine interiors, a gourmet style restaurant, and a great location this property is a great choice for your next break.  The Ciampinoi gondola is only 350 metres from the door and there's a free shuttle to get you there in the morning. Additionally the bus stop is nearby so you can easily make your way between the different areas of the Val Gardena - beginners will enjoy the sunny slopes of Alpe di Siusi or Plan de Gralba, while the more advanced skiers will enjoy one of the longest slopes in the Dolomites, La Longia in Seceda.

Cosy and traditional

The Oswald retains its charm, the cosy rooms are spacious, and furnished with warm wood throughout and many of them have lovely views of the resort and surrounding mountains. The elegant public areas are ideal for catching up with friends and family, head up to the lounge and enjoy the mountain views from the conservatory or enjoy a drink in the cosy bar area.

Alpine specialities

You can enjoy delicious dishes at the Restaurant Oswald. Start your day off at the breakfast buffet which includes local breads, typical alpine cheeses and cold cuts, pastries and other seasonal produce. Look forward to a delicious evening meal in the elegant dining area, the seasonal four course menu is inspired by the local Ladino flavours and tastes of the Mediterranean. Once a week there is a Tyrolean theme night, so you can taste some of the regions specialities. There is an excellent wine menu too, be sure to ask the staff for their recommendation.

Wellness Area

When you get back, try and get some time in the spa - there's nothing better than soothing tired legs in the whirlpool or steam room. The wellness area also features a sauna, solebath and whirlpool. Give your achy ski legs a break and book a massage or treatment with the masseur, its a little extra cost but well worth it.

Selva

Set in the Südtirol’s charming Gardena valley, Selva is a gateway to the famous Sellaronda skiing circuit, where you can ski around the gigantic limestone monoliths of the Gruppo Sella. This delightful and not particularly challenging 25 mile tour can be achieved fairly easily in a day. Selva, part of Dolomiti Superski, the largest lift system in Europe, combines the best of Italian and South Tyrolean traditions for a unique ski holiday experience. It offers unbeatable quantity and variety of skiing right on its doorstep, a paradise for dedicated skiers of all levels.

The picturesque old town of Ortisei, the main community and cultural centre of Val Gardena, with its own small ski area, is both chic and traditional, with a picturesque town centre. Ortisei links easily with Selva’s pistes whilst its local Alpe di Siusi ski area is also well-known for its cross-country trails and a thrilling six kilometre toboggan run. Val Gardena is the venue for one of the early World Cup meetings each season. The Saslong downhill run to Santa Cristina - with its famous "camel bumps" - is where the men's downhill event on Mount Ciampinoi takes place.
