Hotel Alpina is a contemporary hotel in the centre of Chamonix, with amazing views of Mont Blanc and Brevent mountain ranges. The bus stop is across the road from the hotel, making it even easier to reach the cable cars and top of the mountains.

The hotel rooms are modern with urban and mountain styles perfectly combined, giving a warm feel. This design is throughout the hotel, along with the mountain views.

Vista bar and restaurant on the 7th floor of the hotel provide 180° panoramic views over Chamonix resort and Mont Blanc. The food and cocktail menu give even more of a reason to visit. For a more relaxed vibe there is a great bar with an open fire area downstairs, as well as the spa area for a full pampering after exploring the mountains.  

Guests can dine in the Vista Restaurant in the hotel or can explore further with the the option to dine out in a choice of the sister hotels' restaurants: the Prieuré Hotel or Brasserie l'M, both situated in the centre of Chamonix, giving guests an opportunity to taste a variety if local cuisines.

To make your stay in Chamonix extra special there is the opportunity to spend an unforgettable night in the Refuge du Montenvers. Sitting on the top of the Mer de Glace, high in the Chamonix Alps it's the perfect place to watch the sun go down, and wake up in the morning. This nights stay will include the Montenvers Railway to reach the hotel, dinner and breakfast. You won't even need to check out of Hotel Alpina.

Chamonix

The dazzling snow cap of Mont Blanc, Western Europe’s highest mountain, is a magnificent backdrop to the colourful resort of Chamonix and its smaller, but very attractive neighbour, Les Houches. From relaxing strolls to challenging hikes, this ideal walking country offers something for everyone.

The huge choice of outdoor activities (see our things to do tab) includes rafting, parapenting, mountain biking, climbing, horse riding and summer tobogganing. In Chamonix, there is also a superb adventure park, a sports centre and a wonderful 18 hole golf course in Le Praz and mini-golf. 

Offering a wide range of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants, Chamonix also has a cinema, casino and nightclubs. Take a trip up the spectacular Aiguille du Midi, one of Europe’s highest cable-cars, or a ride on the famous rack railway to 6,200ft to admire the stunning Mer de Glace glacier. For those looking to beat the crowds, spend an unforgettable night in the Refuge du Montenvers, sitting on the top of the Mer de Glace.

The Chamonix Valley Card is provided by your hotel upon arrival and offers free bus and train travel in the Chamonix Valley and reductions on many other services. The Mont Blanc Multipass is also available and provides a great value option for those wanting to explore numerous peaks using the in resort lift system.

Things to Do

From relaxing strolls to challenging hikes, holidays in Chamonix offer something for everyone. The huge choice of outdoor activities includes rafting, horse-riding, parapenting, mountain biking, climbing and summer tobogganing. In the resort centre there's bowling, a cinema and even a casino. There's also a superb adventure park, a sports centre and a wonderful 18 hole golf course and mini-golf; be as relaxed or active as you like.

Ride one of Europe's highest cable cars to the spectacular Aiguille du Midi overlooking Mont Blanc, the famous rack railway to 6,200ft to admire the stunning Mer de Glace glacier, or take a trip to Les Houches, Chamonix's quieter village neighbour, 6km down the valley.

The farmers market is in Mont Blanc Square every Saturday morning, with lots of food stands, cheese, fruit, vegs, local items and souvenirs.

Take the train to Gorges of Diosaz for a lovely walk on the boardwalks that're alongside the watercourse up to the gorge with some beautiful waterfalls (approx. 6€ entry, pay locally).

Merlet Animal Park in Les Houches is where eight species of alpine wildlife roam freely in a cleared section of the mountain side. Here there's two walking routes and a café onsite or picnic areas. Shuttle bus that's run by the Animal Park from Les Houches train station Monday to Friday (approx. 8€ entry, pay locally).

The free "Chamonix Valley Card" is provided by your hotel/apartment upon arrival and offers free bus and train travel in the Chamonix Valley and reductions on many other services.

Sample itinerary:

  • Day 1 | Bus to Argentiere and brisk walk back on the Petit Balcon Sud via Chalet la Floria for tea.
  • Day 2 | Train to leBuet or Vallorcine for walk to Refuge du Bérard or the Aiguille Rouge Nature Reserve.
  • Day 3 | Train towards Servoz, admiring the Bossons and Taconnaz glaciers. Visit the spectacular Gorges de la Diosaz (entrance €6.50, payable locally).
  • Day 4 | From Chamonix, bus to les Houches then the cable-car (pay locally) to the Col de Voza and the train to Eagle's Nest.

E-Biking Half Day

A guide will take you through the bike paths of the Chamonix valley, showing off the landscapes around you.

Parapenting from Planpraz (Brevent)

Glide in the air surrounded by the gorgeous mountains and see the Chamonix Valley from above. Seeing Mont Blanc from the Brevent mountain range, your professional parapenting pilot will guide you in the air.

Rafting 

A 6km adventure down the rapids, on the top part of the Arve and its faster currents.

Canyoning Half Day

Abseil and jump into pools of clear water, go down natural rock slides and have a fun day out exploring the canyons.

Rock Climbing in Les Gaillands Half Day

Located between the lake and forest, the Gaillands climbing site is the ideal playground for rock climbing. Supervised by a mountain guide who will take you through the various routes of the climbing wall, everyone can take this activity at their own pace.
