This traditional, family-run hotel dates back to 1899 and it’s got plenty of character and Italian charm. The staff at Hotel Victoria take great pride in their service so we’re sure you’ll have a great stay here. The location is pretty perfect, just off Via Veneto and opposite the Villa Borghese gardens. This is a great part of Rome with tree-lined streets and sophisticated restaurants. It’s also very central so all the historical sights are close by too.

As you walk through the hotel you’ll notice beautiful paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries that provide an insight into the city’s history. Our favourite hangout is the colourful roof terrace, which is full of botanical plants. It's a great spot where you can enjoy the flora while sitting down to a glass of wine or a cocktail. In the summer, you can eat lunch or dinner here and really take the time to appreciate the city views. There’s also a bar that’s open all day so you’ve got somewhere to relax when you need it. The rooms here are traditional but have all the modern comforts you need. The historic building means that not all of the rooms are the same and each has an individual character.

Transfer time: approx. 1 hour by private car from Rome Fiumicino airport.

Rome

The capital city of Rome is Italy’s masterwork. You can marvel at the Colosseum, Vatican City and Roman Forum with just 48 hours in the city, thanks to a UNESCO-listed historic centre with a roll call of millennia-old ruins and soaring domes.

Away from the well-worn paths, Rome has plenty of surprises up its sleeve. Dive into tangled medieval neighbourhoods like Trastevere for narrow trattoria-lined streets and hidden chapels - the area comes alive at night with locals enjoying an aperitivo before heading out to dinner. Discover the city's stunning piazzas, framed by ornate buildings and boasting intricate baroque fountains. Or take some time out in the manicured Villa Borghese gardens with ancient villas that showcase some of history's most revered works of art.

And just when you think you’ve seen it all, the city changes. An ever-changing flow of new restaurants, art exhibitions and festivals means that there’s always an excuse to revisit Rome.
