Tucked away in the cobbled streets of Venice just steps from the Casino and Grand Canal is the contemporary Venice Times Hotel. A triumph of modern architecture and design, this boutique hotel offers a taste of the contemporary amongst the ancient palazzos and piazzas. Every aspect of this hotel has been carefully considered, with Renaissance artwork adoring hallways of distressed oak lit with Murano glass. Misshapen bookshelves, mix matched vintage photo frames from the local night markets and priceless marble and copper accents are scattered throughout both the communal areas and rooms while velour seating areas and Art Deco drinks tables radd a touch of nostalgia to this sleek and clean cut establishment.

The Venice Times manages to strike an almost impossible balance of being modern without pretentious, the space is comfortable, warm and welcoming with 'Cosy', 'Classic' and 'Superior' rooms featuring soft lighting, velvet headboards and luxurious Venetian fabrics. A continental breakfast is served to guests each morning and can be taken either in the bar and dining room or in warmer weather out in the glorious stone courtyard. For those with culinary interests, some of the best restaurants Cannaregio has to offer can be found a stones throw from the doors of the Venice Times including the fabulous Ca'Eolia Italian tapas bar and for fine dining, the Michelin starred 'Le Glam'. Be sure to ask the staff for their local recommendations as the warm and welcoming team are local to the Cannaregio area and know every nook and cranny and more importantly, where to get the best apperitivo in town.

With an entrance hidden from the hustle and bustle of everyday tourist routes, the Venice Times Hotel is a surprisingly close all the familiar landmarks such as the Canal itself, Rialto Bridge (where water taxis can be boarded) and Church of Scalzi which can all be reached via the Lisa di Spagna which is almost a district in itself lined with boutique shops, cafes, ice cream shops and small bars to enjoy an Aperol Spritz on a warm day!

Mysterious canals, golden squares, waterside palaces – it’s little wonder that Venice is billed as the most romantic city on earth.

A city for the curious, getting lost in Venice is half the fun. Time-worn streets lead you past tiny pizzerias and shops hung with Venetian masks. Gondoliers glide down waterways navigated by their ancestors, while vaporetti speed down the Grand Canal to St Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge. Islands gather in the surrounding Venetian Lagoon – and each have their own specialty. Nip over to Murano to see the masterful glass blowers or to Burano to wander the canals framed by rainbow-coloured houses.
