As the name would suggest, the Grand Hotel Cadenabbia is one of the oldest and finest hotels in the area. Rich in history, many illustrious guests have enjoyed the service and facilities of the hotel, including Queen Victoria. A former palace, the hotel has retained much of its original design including the Edwardian lake facing facade and grand foyer with its marble pillars and arched walkways. Situated on the waterfront of Cadenabbia, you are just 400 meters away from the ferry port and being able to reach one of the many other great nearby resorts such as Bellagio.
Just down the road from the hotel you will find the stunning Villa Carlotta. Here you can pay to walk around the magnificent botanical park, all of which is accessible to those with walking difficulties, just the odd path sloping upwards. You can also visit the museum with exhibits across two floors. A fascinating way to spend your day and right on your doorstep.
The quiet charm of the surrounding area ensures a relaxing stay. Our favorite spot was out on the rooftop terrace. Sitting back sipping on a cocktail while the sun falls over the mountains on the other side of the lake, a very memorable experience indeed and definitely a place to snap a few shots with the camera. At the back of the hotel you also have an outdoor pool in a nice little secluded location, surrounded by gardens and overlooked by the Grignetta Mountians.
The hotel’s restaurant has a lake view terrace where you can enjoy your evening a four-course dinner. Live music is provided on the terrace throughout the week between 9pm and 11pm including fabulous jazz bands and string quartets. Guest rooms at the hotel are traditional in style and many have panoramic views over the stunning crystalline waters of Lake Como.
