Ratings/reviewsClick for full ratings

Hotel Bellavista definitely lives up to its name. The views are incredible. It’s right on the lake edge and we love settling down on a lounger next to the pool and looking out over Lake Como. The hotel’s central and close to the wonderful selection of shops, bars and restaurants in Menaggio. You’ll also have the ferry port and local bus service at your disposal.

The hotel’s been run by three generations of the welcoming Faggi family. It began life as a residential villa and has since been extended and renovated to create a bright and relaxed hotel to enjoy both inside and out. The restaurant is under a different management and it’s renowned for its fantastic food. Head here for local delicacies and fresh fish right from the lake. The al fresco veranda is the perfect spot to enjoy dinner and an aperitif as the sun sets behind the surrounding mountains.

The Bellavista is a great base for an active holiday. You can spend your days out exploring the many towns on the lake – they’re easily accessible by ferry. If you’d rather have the water to yourself, there are a number of places locally where you can hire a boat. Speak to the staff who’d be happy to recommend things to see and do.

Transfer time: approx. 2 hours by coach from Milan Malpensa airport.

The resort of Menaggio is flat however to get from hotel to ferry port you would need to walk next to a fairly busy main road and in places pavement gets too narrow for a wheelchair.

Menaggio

To the north of the lake above Tremezzo and Cadenabbia and looking across to Bellagio. One of the main towns on the lake Menaggio has a large pretty piazza with many gelaterias, shops and cafés as well as a very picturesque lakeside promenade.

Halfway along the western shores of Lake Como, a holiday in Menaggio offers a very popular Italian Lakes getaway. Established by the Romans as a strategic settlement on the Via Regina road, it was fortified in medieval times with walls, towers and castles and again in the Great War and WWII. Remains from all these periods can be seen around town. The fascinating upper town has narrow medieval alleys, steps and frescos, whilst lower down you will find 19th century alpine style buildings, the harbour and a picturesque lakeside promenade lined with shady trees, flowers and well-kept villas.
