Before You Go

The Entry/Exit System (EES) is the new digital border system for entering countries in the EU. The EES will eventually replace the traditional passport stamping with an electronic process and came into full effect in April 2026.

Not at all – it just means that when you arrive, your passport will be scanned and your biometric details recorded digitally (that is, your photo and fingerprints).

As this is a new system, there may be a little extra waiting time at passport control. You don’t need to do anything in advance, but it’s a good idea to use onboard facilities before landing and keep any essentials (like medication, snacks or drinks) in your hand luggage so everything feels as smooth and comfortable as possible.

There’s no need to worry - it’s our overseas team's job to make sure you get to the airport with plenty of time for check-in and departure procedures. Of course, this is subject to any unexpected delays enroute.

At some airports, security and passport control take place in separate areas, sometimes on either side of the departure lounge. We advise moving through each stage promptly so you can relax and enjoy the rest of your journey home.

This can be done through your online ‘My Booking’. If you have any problems, please get in touch with Reservations or your Travel Agent.

We will need to post these to you (or your Travel Agent) as they are documents issued by the Swiss Rail System and are accountable documents. You can expect to receive these around 10 days before you depart. There will be detailed instructions on how to use the ‘Fly rail luggage labels’ with your documentation.

Pre-booked seating is available on Lapland flights. For full details on eligibility, restrictions, and how to book your seats, please see our Important Information page or contact our Reservations Team. If you wish to add extra baggage, you will need to contact the airline as we are unable to add this to your booking.

Seats cannot be requested in our transfers. If you are travelling between hotels with us, you will be advised of the arrangements for your transfer to your next hotel by your rep, towards the end of your initial stay. If you have chosen a private transfer, once you have collected your luggage you should speak to an Inghams Rep who will take you to your private transfer. If you’ve arranged your own transport, please call Reservations or let your Travel Agent know so we can advise the Inghams Reps.
