Insider’s Guide: Our favourite festivals in Lake Bled

Lake Bled isn’t just a pretty face. The picturesque lake and beautiful castle are also the backdrops to exciting events and cultural treats. The cosmopolitan destination is an excellent place to visit for anyone with an interest in Slovenian culture and international music. Take a look at what to expect on your holiday :

 

International Music Festival Bled

Taking place from the 1-17 July 2019, the International Music Festival Bled welcomes over 2,000 aspiring musicians from across the world to the shores of Lake Bled. The festival caters for a wide taste in music, with everything from classical performances to Jazz. Atmospheric venues include the lake facing festival hall and Bled Castle.

Tickets cost approx Euro 12 per person and can be purchased locally.

 

29th Okarina Festival

The colourful Okarina Festival celebrates world music, with diverse performances by musicians from around the world: Spain, Korea, Japan, Senegal, Mali, and of course, Slovenia. Performances range in price, from free recitals on the lake promenade, to crowd-pleasing concerts at the festival hall.

The Okarina Festival dates are 23/07-03/08 2019  and  dates for S 2020 are 22/07-02/08

 

Bled Days and Bled Night 

This special weekend celebrates the local community and culture.  Usually local restaurants set-up stalls along the promenade selling regional specialities. The event celebrates traditional Slovenian cuisine and produce, and the stallholders are more than happy to chat about their rich and creative heritage. 17-19 July 2020

 

International Rowing Regatta sometime in June

Lake Bled welcomes the world’s best men, and women’s rowing teams to compete in this spectacular sporting event. Lake Bled forms an important part of the World Rowing Championships, and the crowds come out to cheer the accomplished athletes.
