Treasures of The Danube, Inghams Tour
This unescorted tour of the Danube is suitable for all cycling abilities and allows you to explore the length of this wonderful river at your own pace. You can stop at any of the fascinating locations along the route, from the beautifully Baroque Melk Abbey to the glitz and glamour of Vienna’s many galleries and opera houses.
The classic tour takes you from Passau on the German/Austrian border to Vienna on the other side of the country. Covering such a distance in just seven days may sound like a challenge but the gentle cycle paths, and the choice to upgrade to an e-bike make this tour suitable for all abilities. It’s a very relaxing and rewarding journey.
Inghams also offer an alternative route, tracing the meandering curves of the Danube from Vienna, through Slovakia, all the way to Budapest. Along the way you’ll encounter idyllic rural landscapes, forests and medieval castles. It’s an incredible bike journey.
As you follow the course of the river, we will ensure your luggage is waiting for you in your hotel at the end of each day. You can spend the evening with a warm bath, a glass of local wine and nice comfortable bed, all ready for tomorrow’s cycling.
We have selected hotels all along the bank of the Danube River. The selection of hotels may change but all meet the same high standard.

Jungfrau Region, Switzerland
Thanks to an excellent and efficient network of gondolas and trains you won’t require the fitness of a Tour de France athlete to reach incredible heights on your bike in the Jungfrau Region. The mountain scenery in this part of Switzerland is truly breath-taking, boasting iconic peaks such as the Mönch, Eiger and the Jungfrau.
Alongside the fabulous scenery, the Jungfrau Region is home to over 160km of mountain bike trails. We recommend taking the train up to Kleine Scheidegg for spectacular views over Grindelwald. From here you can cycle the wide track down to Wengen or the more challenging ridge to the Mannlichen gondola.
There are some great trails around the picturesque resort of Grindelwald, which also hosts the annual Eiger Bike Challenge, where participants race along an 88km trail overcoming an altitude difference of 3,900m - spectacular specator event!
The Hotel Eiger in Grindelwald has an excellent location for exploring the mountains, just 5 minutes’ walk to the First gondola and 7 minutes’ from the train station. The hotel also has a spa with steam baths - perfect to recuperate and relax your legs after a hard day’s pedalling.
