Wine is a big part of life around Bardolino and Lake Garda, and there are plenty of ways to discover the region’s vineyards and local varieties. Visit Zeni Winery in Bardolino for a tour of the vines followed by a tasting, a lovely way to spend a warm summer afternoon. There’s a wine museum here too, where you can learn more about the area’s winemaking traditions. At Cantina Lenotti, you can sample more local wines and get a taste of the region’s long-standing wine culture.

There’s even more to discover during Bardolino’s wine festivals, held twice a year. The Palio del Chiaretto in May celebrates the area’s rosé, while the Bardolino Grape & Wine Festival, held between September and October, brings together local wines, regional specialties and live music, finishing with a spectacular firework display over the lake.

Olive oil is another local specialty. Just outside Bardolino, you’ll find a museum dedicated to its production, with traditional equipment showing how olive oil has been made over the years, as well as a shop selling local products. Look out for the freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil, prized for its distinctive flavour and often referred to as ‘liquid gold’.

Take a scenic local train ride through the mountains and valleys to the charming village by the Soča River. Enjoy a leisurely boat cruise on an emerald blue lake before heading to the Goriška Brda wine region. A delicious lunch will be served at a family-run restaurant with stunning views of the vineyards. Visit one of the country’s largest wine cellars in Dobrovo, explore the fascinating cellars, and indulge in a wine-tasting experience. This full-day trip includes lunch, wine tasting, a guide, and all transport.

Montreux Cycling Through Lavaux Vineyards

Take a trip to the spectacular terraced vineyards of Lavaux, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can discover the region’s winemaking traditions and sample some of its 300 local wines. Follow a beautiful vine grower’s trail through the vineyards, taking in views across Lake Geneva, before heading inside to taste fresh local produce and regional wines. You might even discover a new favourite.
