Summer holidays in Limone offer a romantic escape on the shores of Lake Garda, surrounded by mountains. This picturesque village is a blend of old-world charm, with its narrow alleys, historic houses, and vibrant flower-filled balconies, alongside lively shops, cosy taverns, and inviting restaurants. In the summer, the weekly market bursts with local treasures- lemons, olive oil, wine, and cheese- while the fisherman’s museum reveals the rich history that has shaped Limone over the centuries. Whether you’re exploring or relaxing by the lake, Limone holidays offer an unforgettable Italian experience.
Taking a boat to and from Limone gives you the best views of the village, especially in the summer. The ferries provide a fast and scenic way to explore other areas around Lake Garda, and you can take tours that follow the coastline, stopping at historic sites and charming lakeside villages. Using the boats to reach other towns also opens up a variety of walking trails, giving you access to even more picturesque starting points for your adventures around the lake.
Explore local restaurants and bars for yummy food and a great atmosphere, but for the most authentic experience, seek out hidden gems off the beaten path. Lake Garda, with its ancient wine-making traditions, is home to some fantastic local wines. Be sure to try an Aperitivo Chiarè, a refreshing pink sparkling wine spritzer made from local rosé or enjoy a glass of classic Bardolino—there’s nothing like savouring a glass on a warm summer day. Despite its small size, Limone boasts a surprising number of excellent bars to spend the evening in.
Completed in 2018, the Limone sul Garda section of the Ciclopista del Garda (Garda Cycle Path) offers a breathtaking trail along Limone’s coastline, perfect for cycling or walking if you want more relaxed pace. Built into rocky cliffs and suspended 50 metres above Lake Garda, the path provides stunning views, and thanks to LED floodlighting, you can even enjoy it at night. For mountain biking enthusiasts, Limone’s inland trails are a paradise of dirt tracks and mule paths, while road cyclists can explore countless kilometres of scenic, paved routes.
