Hotel Royal Village offers excellent value for money – enjoy a hearty breakfast before exploring Limone. Dinner is also buffet style and includes house wine, draft beer and soft drinks. It’s perfect if you don’t want to worry about spending too much when you’re away. There's live music three nights of the week, too.

The resort is at the edge of Limone. It’s within walking distance, but up a hill from the centre so it might not be suitable if you have walking difficulties. The hill's worth the effort though as it means you’ll enjoy even better views of the lake and mountains. A shuttle bus runs regularly until 6pm so jump on it if you don’t fancy the walk (payable locally).

There’s a large outdoor pool here so finding a sun lounger won’t be an issue. There’s a separate one for children too and a mini club with daily activities to keep the little ones busy and having fun. There’s plenty of options to relax with olive groves surrounding the resort and tranquil lake views from most spots. There's also a nice indoor pool with a whirlpool.

Transfer time: approx. 2 hours 15 mins by coach from Verona airport.

Limone

Limone sits on the shores of Lake Garda, the village is built into the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains near Trento. It’s a romantic village of old houses, winding alleys, flowered balconies, shops, taverns, bars and restaurants, with a church dating back to the 10th century. A weekly market sells local products - lemons, olive oil, wine, cheese - and a fishermen’s museum tells the story of Limone’s history.

Walking is a great way to explore the Limone landscape

Easy lakeside trails and challenging hikes stretch from lake-level up to 1,000m around Limone. There are no gondola's so if you want those views from the top you'll need to work hard, but it's very rewarding! Whatever path you choose, the views are immense.

Boat tours of Lake Garda and visits to other towns

Taking a boat to and from Limone is where you’ll get the best views of the village. The ferries are a quick way to visit other areas around Lake Garda, and you can take tours that follow the coastline and its historic spots, docking at other charming Lake Garda villages.

Italian food & wine

It being Italy, the food and wine scene in Limone is great, and you don’t have to pay much for it. Head out to local restaurants and bars for the best food and atmosphere. Lake Garda is famous for its vineyards, with traditions and roots in the Bronze Age; try Aperitivo Chiarè, a pink sparkling wine spritzer made from local rosé, or a glass of classic Bardolino. For a small village, there are a surprising number of good bars in Limone.

Biking around Limone

In 2018 the Limone sul Garda section of the Ciclopista del Garda (Garda Cycle Path) was completed, and takes you on a stunning lakeside trail along Limone’s coastline. The path is built into the rocky cliffs, hanging 50 metres above the lake. You can even cycle on it at night, thanks to LED flood lighting. Head inland and there’s a paradise of dirt tracks and mule paths for mountain biking, and kilometres more paved roads for cycling.
