Sorrento

Sorrento is best known for its remarkable views. From its perch on the Sorrentine Peninsula, it peers straight over the Bay of Naples to Mount Vesuvius.

Looking inwards, you’ll find a town with a historic centre of cobbled streets and craft shops. Wander the shady lemon groves of the Museum Correale, catch a concert in the Franciscan Cloisters, or hunt out a bottle of freshly made limoncello liqueur.

Sorrento doubles as an ideal base for day trips along the dramatic Campania coast. Naples, the Amalfi Coast, and the islands of Capri and Ischia are all within easy reach.

It rivals Rome with its wealth of historic monuments and archaeological sites and has lively piazzas filled with restaurants serving some of the region’s best food.
