Stay in the centre of Syracuse at the Grande Albergo Alfeo - it’s the perfect base to explore this fascinating Sicilian city packed with history and culture. The ancient Greek Theatre in the Archaeological Park of Neapolis is just a short walk away. Cross the nearby bridge to the island of Ortygia, where you’ll find pretty narrow-cobbled streets that open up in to huge piazzas surrounded by ancient Baroque buildings. There’s a daily market on the island – if you’re a foodie check it out and try some tasty local treats!
The hotel itself is bright and spacious, with lovely high ceilings. The rooms feel fresh and elegant, simply decorated with splashes of rich warm colour. Comfortable and quiet, you’ll wake up ready to make the most of the day. Even more so after breakfast - a homemade pastry from the buffet and a fresh cup of Italian coffee is our go to while we’re staying here.
After a day of exploring, unwind in the hotel bar with a chilled glass of wine or head to the reading room for a peaceful moment. Upgrade to half board to dine in the hotel’s restaurant each evening or choose form the a la carte menu when you arrive. The friendly staff have great local knowledge, so speak to them if you’d like recommendations on what to see or other nice places to eat.
