Day 1 (Saturday) Fly/train to Geneva. Transfer to Chamonix (1 hr) by coach with an opportunity to catch your first sightings of Mont Blanc.
Day 2 (Sunday) Embark on one of the inspirational walks (unguided) among the spruce forests, stunning glaciers and rocky peaks. The area is well sign posted with diverse walking trails suitable for all families. We recommend taking the first Grand Montets cable car and walking to the Glacier Argentière to return via the Réfuge Chalet de Lognan.
Day 3 (Monday) Enjoy the breathtaking views from the best vantage point on a tandem paraglide (optional). This often lands in the Savoy area, next to the Hotel La Folie Douce! For those who like to stay grounded, discover one of the numerous hiking trails in the area and enjoy the local flora and fauna.
Day 4 (Tuesday) Slow down the pace for the last day and take a day to discover the shops of Chamonix. Enjoy lunch at one of the many cafés or brasseries then indulge on one of the fabulous ice cream parlours or patisseries, most with delicious macaroons on offer!
Day 5 (Wednesday) The crowning highlight of your holiday, a scenic rail journey to Zermatt via the famous Mont Blanc Express (approx. 4 hours connecting train to Martigny). Meandering through the Chamonix valley towards Chatelard and Martigny (three train changes), pass stunning scenery and encounter tunnels and high valley bridges on this red and white train.
Day 6 (Thursday) A must trip is an optional journey on the iconic Gornergrat railway for stunning views of the glaciers and the Matterhorn. Then take a wander around the picturesque village, soaking up the atmosphere.
Day 7 (Friday) Take a ramble along the Matterhorn trail through meadows down to Staffelalp before catching the gondola down from Furi and spend the afternoon at Zermatt’s museum with details of the first ascent of the Matterhorn.
Day 8 (Saturday) Guests staying 11 nights travel to Grindelwald (3 hrs with two changes), otherwise take the scenic rail transfer to the airport (3 ½ hrs to Zurich or 3 ¾ hrs to Geneva with up to two changes) for your flight home.
Day 9 (Sunday) Not to be missed is Europe’s highest railway station, the Jungfraujoch. Savour the views of the Eiger whilst enjoying the leisurely train journey.
Day 10 (Monday) Why not explore the many walking trails around this beautiful region. Take a bus to Grosse Scheidegg and meander back enjoying the magnificent views of the Bernese Oberland. Or for a more challenging walk, take the train to Kleine Scheidegg and walk the ‘Eiger trail’, which runs along the foot of the iconic Eiger North Wall.
