Morzine Walks: Rivers, Lakes & Waterfalls
Hundreds of kilometres of marked footpaths await you in the mountains surrounding Morzine. The area has an incredible variety of walking routes: enjoy an easy stroll following the Dranse river, ramble around the serene Lake Montriond or hike to the spectacular Nyon waterfall.

Nanteux Mountain Hike
Nantaux is the tallest mountain in Morzine and can be reached from Montriond. There are two routes: one goes around through the forests, while the other goes straight up to the ridge.
Both offer spectacular views over the French Alps.
Point de Nyon
The Point de Nyon is a beautiful walk offering great views over Morzine and the Alps.
Follow the signs to the Nyon Waterfall and chalet and then it’s a steep ascent through the forest up to the Plateau de Nyon, a grassy meadow with lots of Alpine cows and fantastic views.

Lake Annecy is a dream destination for experienced walkers and the region boasts spectacular Alpine meadows, beautiful forests and incredible views over 8,000km of marked paths.

Bout de Lac Reserve Naturelle
The Bout de Lac Reserve Naturelle offers an easy, flat walk that's a hit for many reasons. It's a peaceful escape where you can enjoy the tranquility, rivers feeding into the lake, and a variety of flora and fauna.
The circular path through the nature reserve can also lead you to a beach spot where you can watch Lake Annecy's paragliders gracefully land.
Right next to the beach, at the port, you have the option to rent pedalos, boats, and paddleboards. It's an excellent choice for a leisurely day out, blending a bit of nature, relaxation, and water sports.

Lac des Gaillands
Lac des Gaillands is a perfect, easy, and family-friendly stroll around the lake. It's just two kilometres long, so you're looking at about a half-hour walk.
It's a fantastic way to familiarise yourself with the area at the beginning of your holiday. Les Praz to Lac Blanc This scenic walk is a gem, not too tough, and is a part of the famous Tour de Mont Blanc trail.
The whole walk is about 6.1 kilometres long, and you'll probably need around three hours to enjoy it properly. The views? They're something else. You'll get to see the stunning Chamonix Aiguilles, Les Drus, and La Verte along the way.
Start your adventure with the Flégère cable car, which lifts you up towards the Lac Blanc. And there's even a cosy mountain refuge on the way where you can grab a drink or a bite to eat.
Once you reach Lac Blanc, make sure to take a little walk around. The views of the Mont Blanc Massif from here are absolutely breath-taking. It's a spot you won't want to rush leaving.
Walking in La Clusaz: Step into Adventure
La Clusaz is a hidden gem nestled 1,000 meters up in the Col des Aravis, a spot famous among Tour de France enthusiasts for its stunning mountain pass.
But it's not just for the cycling pros, this village is a haven for outdoor lovers of all stripes. Whether you're into gentle strolls, cycling, paragliding, tackling via ferrata, or zooming down the luge d’ete summer toboggan, La Clusaz has something for you.
The area has a variety of paths that cater to every level, from easy family walks to more adventurous mountain treks. Some routes start right in the village, making access a breeze.
Or, for a change of scenery, you can hop on a cable car (available during select months) and head up to the Beauregard Plateau. Here, amidst forests and valleys, you'll be treated to the soothing sound of cowbells, the sight of stunning blue lakes, possibly a glimpse of shy mountain marmots, and of course, incredible views of Mont Blanc.

La Croix de Fer
This easy walk, taking roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes, starts about 7 kilometres from the village, just a short bus ride away. Your walk kicks off at the Col des Aravis car park, leading you into the mountains where you're in for some fantastic scenery.
Along the way, you might even catch a glimpse of the iconic Mont Blanc. It’s a great way to spend a morning or afternoon, soaking in the beauty of the area with an elevation gain of 160 metres, making it accessible for most.
Lac de Tardevant
Prepare for a bit of an adventure with a walk to Lac de Tardevant, boasting an elevation of 842 metres. This trek will take you around 4 hours and 30 minutes, starting from L’Arpettaz Les Confins, which is 4 kilometres from the village and accessible by a short bus ride.
Les Confins, a stunning plateau beneath the la Chaine des Aravis, features a charming small lake and is the perfect starting point for this slightly longer journey. Along the way, you’ll find two restaurants where you can stop for a relaxing lunch (just check their opening times first).
The highlight? Reaching the top and marvelling at the stunning views over Lac de Tardevant. It’s a rewarding challenge that offers a taste of the majestic alpine landscapes.
Samoëns: A Little Slice of Haute-Savoie Heaven
Samoëns is a charming village nestled amongst seven majestic mountains, offering beautiful views and cultural gems. For those drawn to the outdoors, walking holidays in Samoëns are a gateway to the Haute-Savoie region's wonders.
