About Hotel Garden

Hotel Garden has a central location but it still feels tranquil and secluded. This hotel is very popular with Inghams guests and people return year after year to soak up its relaxing atmosphere. The Zermini family have owned the hotel since 1969 and they love chatting to guests!

The ferry port's close by so it's easy and stress free to check out other resorts on the lake. It’s only 150 metres from the lakefront where there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. The hotel’s set in beautiful gardens, so you’ll hardly know you’re in central Garda. We love relaxing by the pool, which has plenty of space for spreading out and stunning lake views.

The hotel has plenty of walking right on it's doorstep and offers lots of opportunities to get active while you're away. The hotel has city bikes that are free for guests to use and there's an outdoor and an indoor gym. You’ll also find four tennis courts in the grounds, so don’t forget to pack your racket for a game or two.

The décor is elegant yet traditional and the facilities are excellent. Think comfy sofas in the lobby and antique pieces that have been collected by the family over the years. Each room has a private balcony and lake views are available for a supplement.

Discover Garda

  • Spend a sunny day on the beach or head to Gardaland for some family fun
  • Walk through olive groves and vineyards on an Inghams guided walk
  • Saunter around boutiques and rustic shops in Garda's old town

The eponymous town of Garda is a sought-after summer holiday spot whether for families, friends, couples or solo travellers- but that’s nothing new. People have flocked to Lake Garda for millennia, each leaving their storied stamp; from Bronze Age rock art and Roman vineyards to Venetian villas and historic hotels. Summer holidays in Garda are all about whiling away time walking around the old town and along the promenade. But there’s still more to see beyond this sheltered bay. The rest of Lake Garda calls- as well as the cities of Venice and Verona, just a ferry and train ride away.

More about Garda

Things to do in Garda

The Verona Opera is definitely one for the bucket list! The season runs from mid-June to early-September and covers all the classics including Aida by Verdi or Turnadot by Puccini. Whichever performance you choose; you’ll have an incredible evening.

Garda and Bardolino are fantastic bases on the lake if you want to explore nearby towns and cities.

Jump on a ferry and visit the other towns on Lake Garda. Sirmione will take about an hour- head here to get some fab holiday photos of the castle and moat, plus try the town’s famous ice cream! Hop across the lake to Gardone and visit the Heller Botanical Gardens- we love spending the summer afternoons admiring the flowers and the art.

Our Tour of Lake Garda excursion is another way to take a pit stop tour of various towns around the lake. You can book onto this by calling us up, by heading to Manage My Booking or asking your Destination Expert when you get to resort.

There are a couple of fantastic theme parks in the south of Lake Garda- great for a family day out. It's worth scoping them out in advance, so you can make the most of your day!

Head to Gardaland, Lake Garda's famous theme park and get your adrenaline pumping on one of their exciting rides.

If water activities are more your speed then the Caneva Aquapark is great fun. You could also head to Movieland, a movie themed theme park with rides, shows and film sets. It's the Universal Studios of Lake Garda! Head there as part of your day trip to Caneva, you can also buy combined tickets.

Pedalos on Lake Garda, Bardolino, Family Holidays in Italy

Bardolino and Garda have a great choice of activities that the family will love!

If you and your family love sleeping in nature, then Camping La Rocca is a great campsite on La Rocca in Garda – where you can enjoy water sports such as paddle-boarding and canoeing. Or, if you'd rather be on land, try out mini-golf in Bardolino or rent some bikes for the day and go cycling along the lakeside. Make sure you stop off in Bardolino's Bar Cristallo for the best ice-cream!

One of our favourite ways to soak up the sun on a beautiful day in Bardolino is to rent a couple of sunbeds on the beach for the day and hire a yellow pedalo, or paddleboard. You can also rent pedalos with slides, which are great fun!

Baia delle Sirene & Punto San Vigilio is a lovely park area with a swimming pool and lake access. Or, for something a little different, why not take the family to see the Santuario Madonna della Corona for a walk, you can get there by taking the bus from Garda to Spiazzi. Alternatively, head to Verona for the day on the train, or on one of our excursions!

Southern Lake Garda has some lovely cycling, including mountain biking trails and more peaceful routes that follow the lake edge. You can cycle round the whole lake if you want to, or just choose part of it and head back on a ferry. There are local places where you can hire bikes and some of our hotels have bikes you can borrow.

The area around Bardolino and Garda is serious about its wine and there are lots of opportunities to learn all about it by taking trips to the nearby vineyards. Go to the Zeni Winery in Bardolino for a tasting and tour of the vines; one of our favourite activities on a warm summer's afternoon! There’s a great museum there too. Cantina Lenotti is another local winery where you can try some lovely local wines. Both are well worth scoping out!

Bardolino Wine Festival takes place twice a year. There are plenty of opportunities to taste the local wines and sample regional food specialties. There's also a programme of musical concerts which end in a spectacular firework display over the lake. Bardolino's Palio del Chiaretto takes place at the end of May and celebrates rosé wine whilst the Bardolino Grape & Wine Festival which takes place between September and October celebrates all that is wine!

As well as wine, Bardolino and Garda are known for their olive oil. You’ll find a museum about two kilometres outside Bardolino where you can see traditional equipment used to make the oil and a shop where you can buy some of the local produce. The fresh olive oil that you'll find here, is like nothing else- some call it liquid gold!

from £62 per person

Who doesn't love a wine tour. On this trip you'll get to visit a traditional wine cellar in Valpolicella, where you'll have a wine tasting with a very knowledgeable guide. Enjoy a lunch of fresh, local ingredients where you can experience 'agri-turismo' first-hand. After lunch, you'll be taken to the historic church and cloisters of St Giorgio. There's no better way to spend a day than by indulging in wine, food, history and stunning vineyard views.

You may also have the option to join an optional lagoon trip, which is a lovely opportunity to experience the lagoon and its monuments and learn more about Venetian history from the water (optional extra, payable locally to the excursion guide).
