About Hotel Araba Fenice

Ideal for couples, friends and loved ones, the Hotel Araba Fenice's a great choice if you're looking for a relaxing summer holiday in Lake Iseo. The hotel has easy access to the lake and surrounding walking areas and is in a great spot slightly off the usual tourist trail.

The hotel's in a fantastic position directly on Lake Iseo, in a small town called Pilzone. Just three kilometres from Iseo town centre, its 19th century liberty villa style creates a classic and welcoming atmosphere. Being out of the centre of Iseo means it has a more relaxing and peaceful location on the lake, making it a fantastic place for couples who want a romantic getaway.

The lake views from the terrace are definitely worth scoping out, especially on a sunny day. It's a great chance to take a moment, enjoy some food in the hotel's restaurant (bookable and payable locally) and soak up the scenery. Or, head onto the terrace at sunset and have your pre-dinner aperitivo- why not try a glass of the local Franciacorta sparkling wine, and really immerse yourself in the Lake Iseo effect.

  • Two outdoor pools: infinity pool (adults only, aged 16+) & panoramic pool (for all ages)
  • Free pool towel service: towels will be changed every three nights
  • Small beach area with loungers and umbrellas
  • Bar/Lounge
  • Terrace
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Parking (approx. €15 per night)

  • 3.5km to the centre of Iseo
  • 500 metres to the train station
  • 500 metres to the bus stop
  • Ferry point in nearby towns of Iseo or Sulzano

Breakfast is a continental buffet including bread, jam, cakes and pastries, meats and cheeses and a selection of hot drinks. For dinner the hotel has two a la carte restaurants to choose from, both of which are bookable and payable locally.

Terrazza 1841 is the hotel's bistro and has fantastic lake views and offers lunch and dinner options. Here, you can enjoy simple food which shows of quality ingredients and features lots of meat and fish. When the weather's nice, you can have breakfast and dinner out on the lakeside terrace and enjoy breath-taking views of this incredible landscape.

Izé Restaurant is right next to the hotel. It's a gourmet restaurant that serves food that combines Mediterranean flavours with the flavours and ingredients of Brescia. Running the kitchen is the renowned Michelin-starred, Neapolitan chef Carlo Spina.

Discover Lake Iseo

  • Go in search of the Big Benches on local walking trails
  • Indulge in Franciacorta sparkling wine by the lake
  • Hop on a ferry to the mountain village of Monte Isola

With Lake Garda to the east and Lake Como to the west, Lake Iseo is a case of out of sight, out of mind for many visitors to the Italian Lakes. Italians, meanwhile, have been spending their summer holidays here for decades, drawn in by the laid-back fishing towns strung around the waterfront- and the walking, cycling and ferry routes that link them. The Medieval Iseo town, on the south bank, comes alive in the summer. From here, ferries cross between fishing villages and sanctuary-topped islands. Up in the hills, wine-makers are busy creating Lake Iseo’s beloved Franciacorta fizz, as they have done for generations.

More about Lake Iseo

Things to do in Lake Iseo

If you have time for only one trip, hop on the ferry crossing to Iseo's main attraction, car-free Monte Isola, the largest lake island in Europe.

The islands' main industry has always been the production of wooden boats, fishing nets and fishing- stroll around the narrow alleys and streets to get a taste of the old style Lake Iseo, where fishing traditions are still going strong. Silvery fish dry on lines along the shore and net-making is a living tradition- including making nets for football goals used in the FIFA World Cup. For the best views in the summer, walk along the stone mule tracks up to Madonna della Ceriola – a frescoed church perched on the highest point of the island.

This pedestrianised island really is a fantastic spot for a walk- why not book onto our Monte Isola guided walk, to get a real flavour of the landscape around this beautiful island.

If you fancy a day trip, head to the Church of Santa Maria delle Neve in Pisogne, where you'll find frescoes of the Passion of the Christ by Romanino. For more art don't miss the Valcamonica rock engravings in Capo di Ponte, which have been engraved over thousands of years, from the pre-historic to medieval and iron ages. This is fantastic if you want a more personal look at the area throughout the ages.

There are plenty of castles for you to enjoy, like the 12th Century Breno Castle and the Castello Quistini. The Castello Quistini has stunning gardens which you can also visit.

You can catch the ferry to nearby towns such as Iseo, Sarnico, Castro and Pisogne, taking just over two hours to cross the whole lake from north to south. You can also catch the train to see even more towns such as Sulzano. Bergamo's also close-by. Why not take a day trip and get to know this historic city which dates back to the 6th Century BC.
