About Hotel Adria

Hotel Adria brings Art Nouveau charm into the modern day with a perfect balance of timeless style and up-to-date comfort. Parquet floors, elegant vintage furnishings and thoughtful details give the place a refined but welcoming feel.

The spa is a real standout. You’ll find a contemporary indoor pool with hydro-massage fountains, a Turkish bath, salt steam bath, whirlpool and a soothing Mediterranean sauna. Garden views surround the whole space, adding to the sense of calm. It’s easy to spend a full afternoon here drifting between spa rooms.

Food is taken seriously, as it should be in Italy. Breakfast includes homemade pastries, fresh fruit, honeycomb slabs and prosecco on ice. If you choose half board, you’ll dine at the nearby five-star Park Hotel Mignon, where a gourmet five-course dinner is served each evening.

The hotel’s location makes it easy to explore. Merano’s centre is a pleasant 15-minute walk downhill, with views to enjoy along the way. The return walk is a little more uphill – but ideal if you like to earn your dinner. It’s a great base for walkers, combining access to scenic trails with the culture and charm of town life.

Relaxing spa

The spa is incredibly relaxing and has four therapy saunas, steam room and whirlpool, emotional shower, aroma room and a wonderful relaxation area looking out onto the garden. If you want to treat yourself even more, book yourself a massage or beauty treatment (payable locally).

Merano has been a favoured holiday destination for centuries. Once a popular summer retreat among the European bourgeoisie in the 19th century, it has beautiful hotels and architecture to show for it. Known for its radon springs and spas, Merano is surrounded by mountains that come alive in summer with colourful wildflowers, crystal-clear streams and verdant vineyards and forests. More about Merano

Things to do in Merano

Merano's thermal baths are the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of walking in the mountains. At the spas you'll find everything from Finish saunas to steam rooms, plus 25 pools, each unique in it's own way. Be sure to make use of the outdoor pools, some of which have wonderful mountain views- dreamy!

In the summer Merano's full of live music concerts and entertainment, which liven up the streets. There's a programme of classical, traditional, pop, jazz and more taking places throughout the sunny months, in some fantastic locations. Many concerts are held al fresco in the Trauttmansdorff Botanical Gardens, or you may stumble across musicians in the main square. For a more glamorous concert, why not book one at the Kursaal, Merano's beautiful main concert hall and treat yourself to a glass of local sparkling wine to enjoy before the concert.

This region is well known for its wine thanks to its Mediterranean climate. Orchards and vineyards line the mountains and stretch down to the town. We recommend visiting Castel Rametz, a wine museum where you can take a guided walk around the ancient Roman wine cellar and try the delicious wine.

Cycling is a great way to see the area. Dedicated bike paths make it easy for families to head out exploring. Be sure to take your camera to capture the amazing scenery as you go.

The botanical Trauttmansdorff Gardens cover 12 hectares and feature plants and flowers from all over the world in over 80 garden landscapes. From Merano, you can easily reach the gardens on foot by following Sissi’s path.

The empress of Austria, Elisabeth, enjoyed taking long walks through Trauttmansdorff, which was her summer residence. The walk to the gardens along Sissi’s path is 3.2 kilometres and passes through 11 stages, each with a story to tell. The path travels from the castle and winds down to the park. The path pays homage to Elisabeth in its name and is home to a statue of Sissi.
