Ratings/reviewsClick for full ratings

Hotel Mon Repos is a lovely small hotel that has been in the Barelli family for generations. They’re masters of hospitality and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The location is perfect. It’s in an quiet, elevated position on the Sirmione promontory between the beautiful old town and Jamaica beach – it takes about five minutes to stroll either way.

There’s lots to see and do in Sirmione and it’s easy to explore on foot. There are lovely walks in the area and the Roman Ruins of Grotte di Catullo are a great starting point. You can also borrow the free city bikes from the hotel to explore the historic town or nearby towns like Desenzano. With the ferry point conveniently close it’s easy to travel further afield by boat to visit other towns on the lake – it’s the fastest way to travel in these parts.

When you’re not out exploring, make the most of the facilities back at the hotel. The pool is a real highlight – it’s out in the gardens surrounded by olive trees. There’s lots of sun loungers and nice spots to relax around it. Drinks and snacks are always on hand from the poolside bar. The rooms are comfortable too and all have balconies. If you upgrade to a lake view room, you can really make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

The breakfast room has large windows, so you can gaze out across Lake Garda while you plan the day’s activities over coffee, fresh pastries or even hot options like scrambled eggs. Staying here on bed and breakfast means you can try out a different restaurant in town every night if you like – there’s loads of good places to choose from and the staff can point you in the direction of their favourites.

Transfer time: approx. 45 mins by coach from Verona airport.

Sirmione

Sirmione really has that wow factor. It’s one of the most distinguishable resorts on Lake Garda thanks to its fairy-tale like castle. You’ll need to cross the moat to get into the historic centre – get the camera ready for some great Instagram shots here. Once you’re inside the centre is traffic free and full of interesting shops, restaurants and bars. This is one of the best places on the lake to get gelato so grab a couple of scoops as you wander round and explore. Sirmione’s peninsula is only three kilometres long so you can easily walk the whole length. The centre is always busy but has a great atmosphere. If you head to the tip of the peninsula you’ll find beaches and an old Roman Palace. Sirmione’s a spa town so make sure you spend some time relaxing in the natural thermal waters too.
