Ratings/reviewsClick for full ratings

Hotel Mon Repos is a lovely small hotel that's been in the Barelli family for generations. The location's perfect. It’s in a quiet, elevated position on the Sirmione promontory between the beautiful old town and Jamaica beach. There’s lots to see and do in Sirmione and it’s easy to explore on foot. There's some lovely walks in the area and the Roman Ruins of Grotte di Catullo are a great starting point. You can also borrow the free city bikes from the hotel to explore nearby towns like Desenzano. With the ferry point conveniently close it’s easy to travel further afield too.

When you’re not out exploring, make the most of the facilities back at the hotel. The pool's a real highlight – it’s out in the gardens surrounded by olive trees with lots of sun loungers and nice spots to relax. Drinks and snacks are always on hand from the poolside bar. The rooms here are comfy and they all have balconies. If you upgrade to a lake view room, you can really make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

The breakfast room has large windows so you can look out across Lake Garda while you plan the day’s activities over coffee and fresh pastries. Staying here on bed and breakfast means you can try out a different restaurant in town every night if you like – there’s loads of good places to choose from and the staff can point you in the direction of their favourites.

Sirmione

Sirmione really has that wow factor. It’s one of the most distinguishable resorts on Lake Garda thanks to its fairy-tale like castle. You’ll need to cross the moat to get into the historic centre – get the camera ready for some great Instagram shots here. Once you’re inside the centre is traffic free and full of interesting shops, restaurants and bars. This is one of the best places on the lake to get gelato so grab a couple of scoops as you wander round and explore.

What to see on a Sirmione holiday

Sirmione’s peninsula is only three kilometres long so you can easily walk the whole length. The centre is always busy but has a great atmosphere. If you head to the tip of the peninsula you’ll find beaches and an old Roman Palace. Sirmione’s a spa town so make sure you spend some time relaxing in the natural thermal waters too.

Things to Do

Things to see and do

The town has a rich history so there’s lots to see and do. Grotte di Catullo are fascinating Roman ruins at the tip of the peninsula. It’s easy to get to other resorts on the lake too as ferries run all day from the central port. Jump on the bus, and you can be in Verona in under an hour. It’s a great city to walk around – it’s compact size means you can see all the sights in one day, too!

Sirmione’s been known for its healing thermal waters since the Roman times and there’s plenty of places to enjoy them on the tiny peninsula. Aquaria’s our go-to place when we need to relax - it has the biggest pools and over 10,000 square metres to chill out in.

Food & wine

You can't leave Sirmione without having a scoop of gelato. There's plenty of gelateria in the pedestrianised centre, so pick out your favourite flavour (or two!) and enjoy as you wander around. When it's time for lunch or dinner, head for Piazza Carducci where you'll be spoilt for choice.
