Set sail on a seven-night exploration of the Aeolian Islands, touring the stunning volcanic Archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Head to the waters aboard a Gulet boat, which is a traditional wooden Turkish yacht. Travelling by sea and staying in a comfortable cabin on board, makes for unique and memorable way to explore the seven UNESCO World Heritage islands off the coast of Sicily. Get ready to experience the jaw dropping landscapes and make memories that you will never forget. You’ll have the chance to climb up Vulcano and Stromboli, explore the beautiful island of Liapri, visit the smallest of the seven islands Panarea, see the lava scree of Sciara del Fuoco burstfiery molten lava into the nights sky and explore the lush landscapes and fresh water springs of Salina.

Itinerary

Day 1: UK to Catania or Palermo

On arrival at Catania Airport, you’ll be transferred to Milazzo Port where your boat awaits. Get ready to spend the next week cruising on the glorious Tyrrhenian Sea on this beautiful traditional Turkish yacht crafted in wood. Meet your skipper and enjoy a welcome drink before settling into your comfortable cabin. Tonight dinner will be served on board as you set sail towards Vulcano.

Day 2: Vulcano

Wake up to a view of the towering Vulcano, with its jagged rocks and steaming craters, surrounded by black volcanic sandy beaches. The active volcano dominates the land. The boat will stop in the harbour at Porto di Levante. The two main streets in the town offer you two options. One will lead you up to the crater trail and the other to the thermal waters of the sulfuric mud baths. Explore the island at your own pace before heading back to the boat.

Day 3: Lipari

Today you’ll explore the largest of the Aeolian Islands, Liapri. The islands are famed for their dramatic coastlines and rugged rock formations called “faraglioni”. On today's boat trip around the island you’ll get to see these beautiful natural pale pumice rock formations from the best vantage point on the crystal clear water. You’ll be dropped off at the harbour to explore the old town. The castle that dominates the town is now home to the Aeolian Regional Archaeological Museum.

Day 4: Panarea

Visit the smallest of the Aeolian Islands, Panarea. In the summer months you’ll see luxury yachts bobbing in the crystalline waters surrounding the fashionable island. A boat trip will take you around the island before dropping you at the port. Explore the pretty white washed pedestrianised village of San Pietro or relax in a secluded sandy cove for the afternoon.

Day 5: Stromboli

Stromboli is another of the Aeolian Islands' three active volcanoes. Its conical silhouette rises from the sea. You’ll stop in the harbour and begin a guided walk up the blacked slopes of the Volcano to the crater. The islands main settlement and its black volcanic beaches. This evening choose from one of island's restaurants to enjoy dinner (payable locally). After, immerse yourself in this incredibly unique setting as you take an excursion at to Sciara del Fuoco on the volcano’s northern flank, where you may be rewarded with distant firework like displays of the volcanos explosions. Head back to the boat for a good nights sleep.

Day 6: Salina

The lush landscape of Salina contrasts the lunar-like landscapes of some of the other volcanic islands. This is thanks to its natural fresh water springs, fostering the perfect environment for flora and fauna to thrive. Take a boat trip around the island and see the steep coastal cliffs rise from the sea. From the water you’ll see the islands two peaks, Monte Fossa delle Felci and Monte dei Porri, which are both extinct volcanoes and some of the highest points in the archipelago. Stop in the harbour to explore the island.

Day 7: Vulcano

Today you’ll head back to the main land – stopping at Vulcano on the way.

Day 8: Catania or Palermo - UK

Enjoy your final breakfast aboard the boat before being transferred back to the airport for your flight home.

Hotels

Enjoy a truly unique experience and stay in a cosy cabin on board a traditional wooden Turkish Yacht called a Gulet Boat. Cabins have en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning (6 hours per day)

Your Food: Continental breakfast includes coffee, milk, butter, jam, bread, cookies and  cornflakes. Lunch consists of an apetiser and main course with a side dish. Water and wine is included.
