What makes the Hotel Amerikan special is it's eco-friendly facilities and natural design. The hotel has recently been renovated and they have based the new design on nature. All around you are natural materials like wood and stone, making this one very relaxing hotel to spend time in. All of the balconies have a stunning view of the mountains and surrounding countryside, which will give you even more of a sense of being at one with the natural world. If you can't wait to get moving and throw yourself into the outdoors, the hotel offers e-biking and hiking trips and lets you use their bikes. What a fun way to explore what Livigno has to offer! 

During your stay, you'll be made to feel very welcome and you're bound to go home feeling completely refreshed and pampered. They've created a such a relaxing atmosphere, it really is ideal if you want a peaceful, eco-friendly retreat. At the end of a long day exploring and hiking, the spa and indoor swimming pool are exactly what you'll be wanting. It’s hard to beat a dip in the pool and a hot sauna to soothe your tired legs.

Rooms

Comfort Rooms sleep up to four people (the extra bed is a double sofa bed). They are bright and decorated in a modern alpine style. They have a balcony, bath or shower, TV, phone, safe, minibar and a hairdryer.

Superior Rooms are more spacious and sleep up to four people. They have large balconies overlooking the Livigno Valley. These rooms also come with free soft drinks in the minibar on arrival.

Suites are the largest rooms and sleep up to 6 people. They have a double bed and stairs leading up to a mezzanine with two twin beds. The extra bed is a double sofa bed. These rooms also come with free soft drinks in the minibar on arrival.

What to see on a Livigno holiday

In the Summer there's plenty of opportunity for hiking and adrenaline filled mountain biking. The Forcola pass links Italy to Switzerland - which means you can cross the boarder and explore trails over there too. You can go paddle boarding on Livigno Lake or even test your agility at one of Livigno's adventure parks. What we love to do is morning yoga on the mountain, surrounded by stunning views of the valley. It's the best way to find your inner zen! If wildlife is your thing, then look out for the Ibex and Wild Eagles.

The food here isn't typically Italian, instead it's based on the flavours and cooking styles found in the valley. You'll get to try delicious local mountain dishes which are usually made from rich meats, and local cheeses - these dishes are bound to set you up for an action packed day exploring the mountains.

Lace up those boots

Livigno and the surrounding Stelvio National Park provide the most stunning backdrop for long walks and hikes. Whether you're a hard-core hiker or just want to stroll around and take in the view, you'll find trails for all levels.

 

Connect with nature

The Stelvio National park is a nature lovers paradise. It's actually the largest protected area in Europe, created to preserve the natural environment for generations to come. Made up of mountain ranges, glacial lakes, waterfalls, woodland, meadows and historical villages, it's a fantastic place to explore. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife like deer, ibex, foxes and marmoys and don't forget to look up... you may be lucky enough to spot a bearded vulture or golden eagle. We love looking out for tracks and footprints to see which animals have been around. If it's plants that you're interested in, you'll want to look out for the glacial buttercups which grow high up on the mountain. 

 

Fun for the family

Livigno is full of adventure parks, which make a great family day out. You should visit Larix Park, a high ropes and adventure centre in the middle of the Larch Forest. It has nine different adventure routes, with something to suit all ages. You could also try Aquagrandia activity centre which has a swimming pool, slides, children's entertainment, a spa and a gym. The whole family will be happy! 

 

Mottolino Bike Park

If you love downhill and free ride mountain biking, or you want to give it a go, then you have to go to Mottolino Bike Park. It was specially built for riders looking to improve technique, learn new tricks and try out different jumps. If you're looking for more of a challenge you can practise your jump technique with the inflatable landing or try the downhill biking tracks.

 

Food and Drink

Try Bitto, a cheese typical of the Valtellina region. It is a semi-hard cheese which can be aged for between 40 days and three years. Enjoy the cheese with a few slices of Bresaola della Valtellina (dried Italian salt-beef) and some local Valtellina wine.

If you want something heartier to eat, Manfrigole is a filling dish made with buckweat pancakes stuffed with Bresaola and Casera cheese.

Meals

Breakfast is a hot and cold buffet with fresh pastries, cheese, cold cuts, bacon, eggs, sausages and more.

The main restaurant is open for lunch and dinner serving traditional Valtellinese dishes and typical Italian food. They also have a great selection of wines to accompany your food. We'd recommend trying the local Valtellina wines. Dinner is a hearty four course meal starting with a buffet of appetisers and then moving on to your starter, main course and dessert.

The bar has a huge outdoor terrace which is the ideal place to have your afternoon aperitivo in the sun. It's also open to the public.
