Ratings/reviewsClick for full ratings

The popular Alpenhotel Fischer is run with a personal touch by the friendly Frau Wenig and team. On the outskirts of Berchtesgaden, the centre lies approximately 1 mile away and the hotel is just a short walk from the train station where many of the local buses start from - our guests love to explore the wider region and this hotel makes a perfect base for doing so.

The included weekly Bayerischen buffet is a lovely way to sample the local cuisine. Relax and unwind in the wellness area where an indoor swimming pool, three saunas, whirlpool and infrared cabin await. A range of cosmetic treatments and massages are also available if you wish to treat yourself (pay locally).

The Alpenhotel Fischer is elegantly decorated throughout and enjoys panoramic views of the beautiful surroundings. Austrian twin bedrooms are spacious and all have a balcony.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the iconic Watzmann mountain, this charming and historic town lies in the heart of the Germany’s Bavarian Alps, close to the Austrian border. Situated in a gorgeous alpine setting, the area is popular for hiking and mountain biking, but also has a fascinating history which attracts many visitors each year. Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest and the World War II Centre on the Obersalzberg mountain are popular local excursions. The narrow streets in Berchtesgaden’s pretty pedestrian zone are lined with pastel-coloured listed buildings in alpine style and filled with restaurants, cafés and souvenir shops. The locals are proud to preserve their Bavarian traditions and customs, and showcase typical Bavarian music and dancing at weekly events in the town centre. Surrounded by impressive rock cliffs and Bavaria’s second highest mountain, the Watzmann (2,713m), it is best explored by boat. Board the electric boat in pretty Schönau and listen to the echo of the famous trumpet solo played by the tour guide. Stop off at St. Bartolomä chapel with an optional lunch at a typically Bavarian beer garden. A selection of scenic hikes, varying in difficulty, start at Lake Königssee.
