The Adler Spa Resort Dolomiti is luxurious in every sense of the word. Everyone here will go out of their way to make sure you have the most enjoyable stay possible. The rooms are indulgent with soft, comfy beds and high-end furniture. We love siting in the bar before dinner, which has a luxury yet comforting feel alongside a very tempting cocktail menu. When it’s time to eat you’ll find a large choice of delicious local food. There’s five courses every evening so order a bottle of local wine and sit back to enjoy the feast.

This is the place to be if you want to get out and explore the Dolomites. You’ve got access to the hotel’s e-bikes for free so grab one and set off up the mountain. Or join a guided tour with an e-bike or mountain bike. They run every day and are free for guests. You’ll be with an experienced guide and get to see some of the best trails in the area. There’s guided hikes too, which run every day except Sunday and Nordic hikes a couple of times a week. If you’re traveling with your family, children are welcome to use the kids’ club. This is a dedicated space run by experienced staff with plenty to keep children entertained all day. It’s free to use but you might need to pre-book.

We love exploring the village of Ortisei, it’s got a real Alpine charm about it. The hotel’s right in the centre so head out for a quick walk before dinner if you can. It might be hard to tear yourself away from the hotel though – the gardens are incredibly relaxing with lots of space to spread out and fantastic views. Lots of people head to the hotel just for its spa and it’s not hard to see why. There’s a wide range of beauty, massage and fitness treatments – book in for a spa package for the ultimate day of relaxation. If you don’t fancy a treatment then you can just use the facilities free of charge. There are saunas, steam rooms, a modern gym and heated indoor and outdoor pools. We challenge anyone to come away from here and not feel like a brand new person.

Ortisei is perfect if you’re looking for an authentic mountain village. Its pedestrianised centre is filled with local shops and family-run restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat. And you’ve got all the exciting activities of the Dolomites on your doorstep. Cycling in and around Ortisei is perfect. The area holds two bike days a year and there’s a number of areas dedicated to off road cycling. Prefer to keep two feet firmly on the ground? There's plenty of walking routes to explore too.

What to see on a Ortisei holiday

Famous for woodcarving, Ortisei’s cobbled streets are packed with shops displaying hand-crafted goods so make sure you fit in some time for a bit of shopping while you’re here. Historical churches and buildings are scattered around the area making it a great place to walk around and soak up the views. Those looking for an adrenaline rush can hire a bike and head to the nearby town of Selva. There’s a number of bike trails here from jump lines to family routes. The scenery in the area is stunning too. Ortisei's also a great place to be for night life. On Friday night the bars are all buzzing and everyone's out enjoying themselves.

Things to Do

Things to see and do in Ortisei

Ortisei is in the Val Gardena valley and stretches to neighbouring resorts of St Cristina and Selva. Be prepared to take lots of photos of the stunning area. The pedestrianised streets offer lots of shops and cafes. The Rosarium Uhrerhof, Europe's highest rose garden, is close by and has over 6,000 rose bushes with great views overlooking the resort. Families will love the adventure park and minigolf or taking the lifts to explore the Dolomite mountains on foot or an e-bike.

Food & drink

There's too many tasty treats to mention but our favourite is grostl, dumplings stuffed with meat and potatoes. The area’s known for serving up traditional Ladin meals and if you want to splash out, we can recommend Michelin starred restaurant Anna Stuben. Just be sure to book well in advance.

When out and about, visit some of the mountain huts. They’re the perfect place for an Aperol Spritz while watching the sun set.

There's loads of walking trails in Ortisei. Our favourite area to explore is the nature park of Puez-Geisler. There's loads of great loops with mountain huts along the way for refreshments. Head towards the peak of Seceda for the best scenery and photo ops.

Check out the Dolomite mountains when you visit. If like us you want to save the legs and take the easy route up, just hop on the lifts or better yet, rent an e-bike and make a day of it.

If you want to get your adrenalin pumping, take to the sky on a tandem paragliding session for an incredible bird’s eye view of the area.
