Hotel Duca d’Aosta

  • Italy, Pila & Aosta

Set in the historic centre, The Duca d’Aosta has recently reopened after a complete 9 month restoration. With great care paid to quality and comfort, The Duca d’Aosta is one the city’s leading hotels – and it’s not hard to see why. The hotel has kept its original brick façade contrasting with elegant interiors featuring Italian style reminiscent of the mid-1900s. The bedrooms have been finished to an equally high standard with French oak floorboards and retro design. In the heart of the town, this hotel is the perfect base to explore this historic city as well as for getting the gondola for easy access to Pila’s slopes. The bus stops 20m from hotel or just 10 minutes’ walk (850m) to the Pila gondola.

Pila & Aosta

Located above the Roman town of Aosta, Pila is a hidden gem. This modern, purpose built resort is one of the most snow sure destinations in the Alps offering beautiful treeline skiing and some great terrain. The well-groomed pistes are rarely overcrowded outside of the weekends meaning less time queueing and more time skiing. This compact resort is easy to navigate with a fun, friendly atmosphere. Pila has numerous eateries including a number of mountain restaurants all of which are reasonably priced. A 20 minute cable car links this welcoming ski resort with historic Aosta should you wish to venture further afield. The number of red runs makes the resort ideal for intermediates, but Pila also caters well for beginners with long blue runs and no draglifts. Some good off-piste can be found between the trees, combined with a few black runs to offer something to advanced skiers.
