Kronplatz, also known as Plan de Corones, is part of the famous South Tyrol and the Dolomiti Superski area and is known for its modern lifts, guaranteed snow and breath-taking 360º views of the Dolomite Mountains. San Vigilio, where our hotels are located, is to the south of Kronplatz and is a pretty Ladin village that blends modern chic with old customs and traditions. There are plenty of activities available such as sledging, snowshoeing and sleigh rides and after a day on the slopes you’ll enjoy the selection of cosy bars and restaurants.

Skiing and snowboarding in Kronplatz 

Surrounded by breathtaking scenery of the Dolimites, the slopes in Kronplatz are never overcrowded and are ideal for all levels of skiers, particularly families and beginners. With over 119 kilometres of slopes and modern lifts, its state-of-the-art facilities and efficient lift system means you spend more time on the slopes and less time in line. Whether you're cruising down wide open blues and reds, or challenging yourself on longer advanced slopes, there is something in Kronplatz for everyone.

The resort takes it's grooming very seriously with the pistes being meticulously maintained, ensuring smooth descents for all. Not only that, but the area has 100% snowmaking coverage, so no matter the weather, you can expect reliable snow conditions throughout the whole season.

Where to stay in Kronplatz 

All of our hotels are offered on a half board basis so you'll have breakfast and dinner included in your stay. Hotel Teresa is a modern hotel with a warm, wooden natural feel and has a cosy bar that is the perfect pitstop before bed. Hotel Monte Sella is located just 50 metres from the ski lifts so accessing the slopes in the morning couldn't be easier. Hotel Mareo has a heated outdoor whirlpool so you can appreciate the mountain views whilst staying nice and toasty.

Hotel Teresa is a smart, modern property with a warm wooden and natural feel to it. It's in the centre of the resort just 250 metres from the ski lifts. At the end of the day you can have a drink in the bar or head to the indoor pool in the spa.

Beginner skiing and snowboarding in Kronplatz 

Kronplatz caters well for beginners. The slopes here are wide and gentle, where you can comfortably find your ski legs. At the summit, you'll also find beginner friendly lifts such as the Alpen, Marchner and Plateau. 

For children there is a fenced off Kid's Safety Park which is located below the Alpen Connecting Mountain Terminal. This features a slalom run, numerous banked turns and tunnels and even a play castle, providing endless fun for the little ones. 

Intermediate skiing and snowboarding in Kronplatz 

Bruneck-Kronplatz is an ideal resort for intermediate skiers and snowboarders, with a multitude of red runs that will challenge and push your abilities. Pracken and Ried areas are great, offering a variety of wide, flowing red runs. For a thrilling experience, try the Pre da Peres run, a long and enjoyable red run that winds its way down from the summit. Do remember that the grading system in Bruneck-Kronplatz is slightly tougher compared to other resorts, so take this into account when planning your route.

Advanced skiing and snowboarding in Kronplatz 

Advanced skiers and boarders will have to try the 'Black Five', the 5 black pistes of Kronplatz ski area. These include the challenging 'Sylvester', 'Hernegg', 'Pre da Peres', 'Erta' and 'Piculin' which all guarantee to be leg burners with unforgettable thrill. Hop on a shuttle bus from Kronplatz to Alta Badia for more exhilarating runs.

Off piste and snow parks in Kronplatz 

Bruneck-Kronplatz offers several off-piste areas for experienced skiers, from steep chutes to vast, snow-filled bowls. One popular off-piste route is the Arndt run, accessed from the top of the Kronplatz 2000 lift. For those venturing off-piste, it’s crucial to hire a local guide or instructor who can ensure your safety and guide you to the best spots.

The snow park in Kronplatz is placed between the slopes Belvedere and Plateau at 2,230 metres. No matter if you're an advanced freestyler, or a beginner wanting to learn the ropes, the snowpark is accessible to all. The park features 4 lines consisting of an easy line, a medium rail line, a medium kickerline and a family fun line.

Cross-country skiing in Kronplatz 

Cross-country skiing is a great way to experience Kronplatz. Skate under mountain peaks and over frozen lakes with the huge 162 kilometres of trails. You'll find 2 cross-country regions, the Antholzertal valley and the Gsieser Tal Valley.

Things to do in Kronplatz 

Restaurants, food and drink

Discover the authentic flavours of the region in every nook and cranny of the resort, from charming restaurants to cosy mountain and alpine huts. The local cuisine, inspired by the rich and powerful landscape of the mountains, offers a delightful blend of Ladin, Italian, and Austrian gastronomy. Treat yourself to exquisite wines, refined liquors, and craft beers, while savouring dishes like Schlutzkrapfen—pasta filled with spinach and ricotta—crispy potato pancakes with cabbage, and sweet pancakes topped with cranberry jam.

Apres, bars, clubs and nightlife 

The atmosphere in Kronplatz is lively and it's not uncommon to find people dancing in the early hours of the morning with their ski boots on.

A popular favourite is K1 at the base station in Reischach, where everyday at 2:30pm DJs kick things off and get everyone dancing. The music carries on into the early hours of the morning as the après bar transforms into a small nightclub.

Another great bar to visit is the Giggeralm, which can also be found in Reischach - here music starts pumping from 1pm and continues all day everyday!

The Puka Naka Club in Bruneck is a new stylish bar and nightclub that has become the hotspot for nightlife in resort. On weekends, the club stays open to 3:30am.

Spas and relaxation

Theres nothing better than taking a moment for yourself and relaxing during your ski holiday. Throughout resort you'll find a number of communal spa facilities for you to use. Indulge in ultimate relaxation at Cron4, a large swimming pool and wellness area featuring thermal baths, saunas, and soothing massages. Or experience the luxury of Acquapura Summit SPA, located in the Falkensteiner Hotel. Built around the 4 mountain elements rock, water, sun and air, this spa has a pool and relaxation area as well as a sauna, gym and yoga room. No matter how you like to unwind, we're sure you'll find something that suits your mood. 

Shopping

From international fashion chains and classy boutiques, to gourmet and traditional shops, Kronplatz has something for every mood. Kronplatz is a great place to look for all kinds of homemade, handmade and regional products. You'll find a lot of family run businesses, local artisans and producers throughout the resort centre, selling a range of skilful creations and mouth watering treats. There is also a weekly farmers market offering fresh food, alcohol, souvenirs, decorations and many more.

Tobogganing 

Tobogganing is a fab way to have fun with the whole family. Race each other on white slopes and sled your way through snowy forests. Many of the winter hiking trails offer tobogganing opportunities varying in difficulty and length. 

Snowshoeing 

Star your snowshoe adventure in the pristine landscape of the Pustertal Valley. Enjoy the nature and silence of the mountains as your trek through the winter forests of the resort, before stopping in the cosy alpine huts to warm up.

Lift pass information

Featuring a linked ski area of 1,220km on one lift pass, the Dolomite Superski Area Pass, is worth every penny. To access the Sella Ronda you can catch the local ski bus running every 20 minutes from the Piculin cable car valley station which takes you to the Sponata lift in Alta Badia. From there you can ski over to Corvara and start the epic journey around the Gruppo Sella. 

For those looking to make the most of the local area in Kronplatz, you have 120km to explore. It's perfect for families or groups of different abilities as majority of the lifts lead back up to the top of the plateau where you can gather for a drink or lunch each day. 

Children born after 01/01/2018 can collect a free ski pass in resort. Proof of age will be required.

Tuition information

  • Tuition will be available from 21st Dec 24 onward 
  • Ski tuition will take place Sun & Mon 11:00 - 12:50, Tue - Fri 10:00 - 12:50
  • Snowboard tuition Sun - Tue 10:00 - 12:20
  • Group tuition need a minimum number of guests to take place. Very occasionally these numbers aren’t reached. If you have pre-booked tuition and this happens, the ski-school will do their best to offer private tuition to the value of what you had originally booked.

Levels of tuition:

  • Beginner - never skied before
  • Level 1 - advanced beginner; can control speed, snowplough and change direction on gentle slopes 
  • Level 2 - low intermediate, snowplough turns and start to ski parallel
  • Level 3 - good intermediate, parallel turns 
  • Advanced - fully confident on all slopes, looking to improve technique

Travel and Transportation

All our holidays include return travel to resort either by flight or train and then the transfer to your accommodation.

Departures are on Saturdays with stays for 7 or 14 nights.
