Ski holidays in Cortina D’Ampezzo

The most fashionable ski resort in Italy with stunning scenery and great skiing

There’s only one! The Olympic resort of Cortina D’Ampezzo is one of the most filmed, photographed, skied and visited resorts in the Italian Alps. Located east of the Sella Ronda circuit, it’s not called the 'Queen of the Dolomites' for nothing. It’s renowned for the excellent selection of skiing as well as superb accommodation, bars, restaurants and shopping. The main skiing areas are the Cortina Cube (Socrepes, Faloria and Mietres), Tofana, and Lagazuoi - 5 Torri, with plenty of challenging runs as well as some of the most amazing views. The areas are either linked by the impressive network of lifts or local ski buses. The Tofana area has a women's downhill World Cup run, which Cortina hosts each January. For people-watchers, the evening highlight is the passeggiata (stroll) along the Corso Italia by fur-and-jewellery clad visitors from Milan and Venice wandering through antique shops, designer boutiques and bars.

Inghams operate a telephone rep service in Cortina. For a smoother in resort experience, we recommend pre-booking the following before you travel; Lift passes, ski equipment hire and/or tuition.

Beginners skiing in Cortina

The Socrepes area of the mountain has wonderful nursery slopes and is one of the best beginner's areas in the Dolomites with some great progression slopes.

Intermediates skiing in Cortina

The runs at Tofana are short but great for cruising. You will want to ski a few runs a couple of times as the scenery is breathtaking and this area normally has the best snow.

Advanced skiing in Cortina

Advanced skiers will enjoy the Lagazuoi Cinque Torri area where you will find a large selection of red runs and some challenging blacks with great north-facing snow. Another great area to head for is the 'hidden valley' red run from the Passo Falzarego cable-car, and of course you have to try the famous Sella Ronda.

Snowboarding in Cortina

There is a terrain park at Faloria with kickers, rails and a half-pipe open to skiers and boarders.

Cross-country skiing in Cortina

Enjoy 78km of trails throughout the area. One of the tracks is 30km long and follows an old railway from Fiames to Cortina.
