About Jeris Lakeside Resort

Experience an all-inclusive Lapland adventure. The Jeris Lakeside Resort is a family-run resort, part of the Harriniva Hotels & Safaris, a collection of wilderness accommodations and activities. They're owned by the third-generation Pietikäinen family who are descendants of the indigenous Sámi people of Lapland. Surrounded by the forests and fells of the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, and set next to Lake Jerisjärvi, you will have unspoiled views of the Lappish landscape. With limited light pollution, you may even spot the Northern Lights during your stay. Your inclusive package itinerary includes a special meeting with Santa, plus a variety of different activities, including snowmobiling, a husky safari, and a scenic reindeer sleigh ride. 

The cabins at the Jeris Lakeside Resort add a touch of authenticity to your stay, built in a traditional Finnish style with wooden panelling throughout, these cabins offer a cosy retreat in the remote Lappish landscape. Situated between the lake and hotel, the cabins are a short walk to the main building where you will have meals and be picked up for the excursions. Each cabin includes a private sauna and a seating area with a fireplace, perfect for warming up after a day of adventures.

Meals are often made with local and regional produce. Each morning you can enjoy a varied breakfast buffet with an assortment of hot and cold options. In the evening, you can enjoy a three-course meal, often combining modern flavours with a Lappish twist. Plus one evening, you will have a special Christmas dinner. 

There is complimentary coffee and tea offered in the hotel's main restaurant throughout the opening hours. Selected soft drinks are included for children, a wristband will be provided on arrival.

Jerisranta Cabin A sleeps up to four people. Located in between the lake and the hotel,  each cabin has a sleeping alcove with two beds and a sofa bed suitable for one adult or two children.

The Jeris Lakeside Resort is not recommended for those with reduced mobility as the cabins are a short walk from the main hotel building.

This family-owned hotel offers guests an insight into the indigenous Sami culture of Lapland, respecting Lappish traditions and has a strong connection with local nature. The cosy accommodation is powered by renewable energy and geothermal heating.  Full-board meals include a variety of dishes made with local and organic produce.

During your stay, you can visit one of the oldest reindeer farms in Lapland. You can learn about the heritage of the Sámi people and explore the history of the farm through the original artifacts and stories. Animal welfare is central to all of the activities, the group are founding member of the ''Animal Welfare in Tourism'' service, a project that cooperates with the University of Lapland - this promotes a high standard of life for the animals through good living conditions, keeping them healthy and happy.

Being one of the few businesses operating in the unspoiled Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, you can learn about the surrounding fells and forests, and the natural resources available in the area- The Harriniva group is actively lobbying against large-scale logging in Muonio. In support of the local community, the hotel sources products from businesses and smaller Finnish entrepreneurs, plus regularly contributes to the local youth and children's charity.

The group is Green Key accredited, demonstrating its commitment to environmental and sustainable development.

Meet the lively huskies and set off on a thrilling dog sledding adventure through the peaceful, snow-covered forest — one of the most unforgettable ways to explore the Lappish wilderness! Adults (18+) will have the chance to drive their own team of eager huskies, while one or two passengers (aged 12+) can ride comfortably in the sled. Younger children can enjoy the magic from the sled, safely guided by a professional musher.

Let the festivities begin! A Christmas break in Muonio is not complete without a special visit to meet Santa. Santa's Elves are the only ones who know the way to Santa's secret hideout. You'll be guided through the snowy forests in search of Santa's cabin - he'll be waiting to meet you there! Take part in a baking and crafts workshop, make tasty gingerbread cookies and make your own Christmas decoration as a special souvenir to remember your trip. Have fun in the snow - try tobogganing, cross-country skiing and take a spin on a mini-snowmobile. 

Step into a winter fairy tale as you visit one of Lapland’s oldest reindeer farms and meet these gentle Arctic creatures up close. Guided by a local Sami expert, enjoy a serene 1km ride through snow-covered forests on a traditional reindeer-drawn sleigh, wrapped in the magic of the Arctic wilderness.

Your exciting itinerary

With four exciting Arctic excursions included in your holiday package, you'll have a jam-packed itinerary filled with fun for all the family! Whizz through the magical snowy landscape on a snowmobile tour or visit the Arctic sled dog centre and venture through the frozen forest on a husky safari. You'll also meet the reindeer at the historic Lapinkartano, “Lapland Manor”. 

You will receive your personal itinerary on arrival at Jeris, which may differ from the order of the sample itinerary below. 

Meet you Inghams Santa Breaks Destination Expert at Kittilä airport and transfer from the airport by coach to your accommodation. Once you arrive settle into your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time you'll pick up your suits and boots on your first or second day.

After a magical few days, it’s time to say goodbye to your new friends before being transferred by coach to the airport for your flight home.

If you are staying on a 3 night (4 day) stay then the snowmobile and Christmas dinner are on Day 4 and departures on Day 5.

Snowmobile Safari

  • Drivers must be 18+ years with a valid physical driving license.

  • Shared snowmobiles as standard; single upgrade available locally (approx. 32€), free for single parents.

  • Minimum passenger age: 15 years, minimum height 140 cm.

  • Children under 15 ride in a guide-pulled sleigh (heating not guaranteed). Not recommended for children under 4.

  • Optional excess reduction available (approx. 16€, reduces liability to 400€).

  • Approx. 20 km track, continuous loop with driver swap option halfway.

Husky Safari

  • Drivers must be 18+ years.

  • Sleds typically carry 2 adults (age 12+), and drivers can swap halfway.

  • Children under 12 ride with guides (5–6 per guide sled).

  • In cold weather, younger children may complete a shorter loop and supervised indoor activities.

Reindeer Safari

  • Approx. 1 km ride; sleighs hold up to 2 adults and 2 children.

  • Sleighs travel in a line, led by a Sami guide (guests hold rope but do not control reindeer).

  • Visit includes Lapinkartano Sami Museum, cultural talk and lunch.

Child Policy

  • Children welcome year-round; infants under 3 years cannot participate in activities.
