Discover Oslo

Oslo is an ideal place to spend a few nights, either before or after your ski holiday. This is your chance to blend a slice of culture into your ski trip - and thanks to our transfer times and any-day flight schedule, staying in the city allows you to make the most of more flight availability.

As Norway's capital city, there's plenty to see and do in Oslo. Admire stunning architecture at the likes of Oslo Opera House, take in waterfront and fjord views and, if you're visiting over December, the Christmas markets are a must (the ones at the Folk Museum or Spikersuppa get top marks from us).

Oslo is available as a city add-on for Geilo, when flying from London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh and Birmingham.

Our Ski Specialists can tailor your trip to the dates (between December to April), durations and hotels that suit you - just give us a call.

Sample Oslo city break itinerary

  • Start the day with a stroll through the Palace Park, which surrounds the Royal Palace. From here, make your way to the historic Akershus Fortress where centuries of Norwegian history come to life through its impressive architecture and exhibits - and you can walk the castle walls, too.
  • In the afternoon, head to Munchmuseet. Home to the world's largest collection of works by Edvard Munch, here you'll find versions of his iconic masterpiece 'The Scream' alongside other works that showcase the legacy of this Norwegian artist.
  • As evening falls, end the day along Oslo's waterfront for dinner and soak up the atmosphere from a cosy table indoors. If there's time, round off the day with a performance at the Oslo Opera House. There's also great views from the roof overlooking the fjord.
  • Start the day by embracing Norway's greatest natural treasure: the fjords. Make the most of Norway's best natural feature with the fjords. Either simmer away in the Oslo Fjord Sauna, or hop aboard a fjord cruise to admire the scenery.
  • Spend your afternoon at the National Museum, Scandinavia's largest museum and the perfect refuge on rainy or bitterly cold days. Keep an eye out for two more versions of Edvard Munch's 'The Scream' (yes, the city really can't get enough).
  • Learn more about Norway's past at the Norwegian Resistance Museum which covers Norway's involvement during the Second World War. Finally, end the day with some traditional Norwegian food; from freshly caught seafood to indulgent slices of marzipan cake, there's plenty to tempt your tastebuds.
