Hotel Porto Roca has some of the best views in Liguria. It’s built right into the cliff with the bright blue of the sea sparkling below. It’ll take your breath away. Best of all, it’s in Monterosso, which is one of the five villages of the Cinque Terre. This means you can spend your holiday discovering this impossibly-beautiful UNESCO protected sight.

Once you’re done exploring, take a dip in the incredible infinity pool. The views are endless. If you need it, a small massage cabin offers treatments that are the perfect rejuvenation if you’ve taken advantage of the fantastic walking trails nearby.

Every morning a sumptuous buffet breakfast is served to set you up for the day ahead – and during summer your meal can be enjoyed on the fabulous terrace. The hotel’s evening restaurant is also a popular choice with both guests and locals. It offers regional specialties like fresh pesto and fish that’s been caught in the bay below the hotel.

Transfer time: approx. 1 hour 30 mins by private car from Genoa or Pisa airport.

Monterosso, Cinque Terre

The village of Monterosso is one fifth of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Cinque Terre. It’s also the biggest of the five cliff side villages and is well equipped for visitors.

There’s two distinct parts to Monterosso - the old part with narrow lanes and traditional fishermen’s cottages, and the newer part where you’ll find ample amenities including plenty of shops, waterfront restaurants and the beautiful Fegina beach. With its own train station, this little town makes it easy for visitors to explore the surrounding areas. The Cinque Terre train connects the coastal villages or you can head further afield to towns like Sestri Levante and Rapallo.

Things to Do

The Cinque Terre is famed for its hiking, with well-trodden paths winding along the coast between the five villages, with fantastic views along the way. We recommend setting out early and catching the train back once you’ve reached the end.
