About The Family Arctic Adventure Package

Everywhere you look in Lapland, there's a once-in-a-lifetime moment waiting - and the Family Arctic Adventure Package at Harriniva Adventure Resort makes sure you don't miss a thing. Set on the Swedish border in the remote village of Muonio, it's the kind of holiday where everything's sorted from the moment you arrive. Full-board meals, winter clothing for your whole stay and an incredible line-up of Arctic adventures are all included in one package, so you can spend less time planning and more time making memories together.

No two days feel the same. Race through snowy forests on a husky sled, head out on a snowmobile adventure, or wrap up warm for an evening aurora walk beneath the stars. In between, there's time to slow down with hearty buffet meals, complimentary tea and coffee in the main restaurant, and cosy moments back at the accommodation before your next adventure.

After a day outdoors, you'll have somewhere warm to come home to. Choose from inviting sauna rooms, complete with your own private sauna to spacious Wilderness rooms ideal for relaxing after a day outdoors. The beautiful Arctic Glass Suites feature a private sauna and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the icy Muonionjoki River - you may even catch a glimpse of the green and red hues of the Northern Lights lighting up the starry night sky.

  • The Harriniva Adventure Resort is around 3 kilometres from the village of Muonio
  • Approximately 1 hour (80km) to Kittilä by coach

Meals are often made with local Finnish and regional produce. Each morning, you can enjoy a varied breakfast buffet with an assortment of hot and cold options. Lunch will be provided in the main restaurant or while you're out taking part in your included activities. In the evening, you can enjoy a three-course meal, often combining modern flavours with a Lappish twist. Plus, one evening, you'll have a special Finnish Christmas dinner. 

Your first meal will be dinner on arrival day, and your last meal will be breakfast on departure day. 

There is complimentary coffee and tea offered in the hotel's main restaurant throughout the opening hours.

A wristband is available to purchase locally for children aged 12 and under, providing access to soda drinks throughout their stay. The cost is approximately €21 per child for a 3-night stay and €28 per child for a 4-night stay (subject to change).

Standard twin rooms are cosy-log style rooms, and sleep up to four people with twin beds, plus a single or bunk beds. These rooms are available for single use on selected dates, please call to book. 

Sauna rooms sleep up to four people in a cosy cabin style room. These rooms have a room with a double bed, and an open plan seating area with a sofa bed - suitable for one adult or two children. These rooms also have a private sauna.

Wilderness rooms sleep up to five people in a duplex-style apartment. They have a double bed on the mezzanine level. On the lower level there's a sofa bed - suitable for two adults or three children. These rooms also have ecological Finnish hair and body products. 
Some Wilderness rooms can accommodate two additional single beds in the mezzanine area to sleep up to seven people. Please request this at the time of booking.

Arctic glass suites sleep up to four people, with a double bed and a double sofa bed. Each suite has a cosy seating area with a dining table, an ensuite bathroom with shower, and your own private sauna. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out across the Muonionjoki River, so you can enjoy the snowy scenery from the warmth of your room. For added convenience, each suite is equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, and tea and coffee making facilities.

This family-owned hotel gives you a real insight into the indigenous Sámi culture of Lapland, with deep respect for Lappish traditions and a strong connection to the nature around it. The cosy accommodation runs on renewable energy and geothermal heating, while full-board meals include a variety of dishes made with local and organic produce.

During your stay you can visit one of the oldest reindeer farms in Lapland. Learn about the heritage of the Sámi people and explore the history of the farm through original artefacts and stories passed down through generations. Animal welfare is at the heart of every activity here - the group are founding members of the ‘Animal Welfare in Tourism’ service, a project that works with the University of Lapland to promote high standards of animal care, from good living conditions to keeping the animals healthy and happy.

Harriniva is one of the few businesses operating in the unspoiled Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, giving you the chance to discover the surrounding fells, forests and natural resources of this incredible area. The team are also actively lobbying against large-scale logging in Muonio to help protect the landscape for the future. Supporting the local community is important too - the hotel sources products from local businesses and smaller Finnish entrepreneurs, while regularly contributing to local youth and children’s charities.

The group is Green Key accredited, demonstrating its commitment to environmental and sustainable development.

Harriniva Adventure Resort Muonio Husky Safari 3

After a magical few days, it’s time to say goodbye to your new friends before being transferred by coach to the airport for your flight home.

If you are staying on a 3 night (4 day) stay then the snowmobile and Christmas dinner are on Day 4 and departures on Day 5.

  • All activities are subject to weather and safety conditions; the itinerary is subject to change. 

  • All participants must sign a waiver before taking part in activities.

Snowmobile Safari

  • Drivers must be 18+ years with a valid physical driving license.

  • Shared snowmobiles as standard; single upgrade available locally (approx. 32€), free for single parents.

  • Minimum passenger age: 15 years, minimum height 140 cm.

  • Children under 15 ride in a guide-pulled sleigh (heating not guaranteed).

  • Optional excess reduction available (approx. 16€, reduces liability to 400€).

  • Approx. 20 km track, continuous loop with driver swap option halfway.

Husky Safari

  • Drivers must be 18+ years.

  • Sleds typically carry 2 adults (age 12+), and drivers can swap halfway.

  • Children under 12 ride with guides (5–6 per guide sled).

  • In cold weather, younger children may complete a shorter loop and supervised indoor activities.

Reindeer Safari

  • Approx. 1 km ride; sleighs hold up to 2 adults and 2 children.

  • Sleighs travel in a line, led by a Sami guide (guests hold rope but do not control reindeer).

  • Visit includes Lapinkartano Sami Museum, cultural talk and lunch.

Child Policy

  • This package is suitable for children 6 years and older. Under 6s are not permitted.

Your included Muonio activities

Meet the lively huskies and set off on a thrilling dog sledding adventure through the peaceful, snow-covered forest - one of the most unforgettable ways to explore the Lappish wilderness! Adults (18+) will have the chance to drive their own team of eager huskies, while one or two passengers (aged 12+) can ride comfortably in the sled. Younger children can enjoy the magic from the sled, safely guided by a professional musher.

Duration: approx. 1 hour 

  • Children must be over the age of 6 to take part in this excursion. Children under 12 years will be in a guide driven sled.

Step into a winter fairy tale as you visit one of Lapland’s oldest reindeer farms and meet these gentle Arctic creatures up close. Guided by a local Sami expert, enjoy a serene 1km ride through snow-covered forests on a traditional reindeer-drawn sleigh, wrapped in the magic of the Arctic wilderness.

Experience the unique tradition of Lapland as each sleigh, carrying your family comfortably, follows in a line led by a Sami guide. Feel part of the journey as you hold the reins and connect with the timeless rhythm of this ancient way of life.

After the ride, step inside the charming Sami museum at Lapinkartano, where fascinating stories and original artifacts bring the rich history of the farm and Sami culture to life. To complete this authentic experience, enjoy a warming lunch.

Duration: approx. 1 hour (at the reindeer farm)

Feel the rush as you zoom across the sparkling Arctic tundra on a thrilling snowmobile safari! Adults (18+) will learn to drive their own sled, with the chance to swap drivers halfway along a scenic 20km route - so don’t forget your valid driving license. Passengers aged 15+ can join the fun, while little ones under 15 ride snugly in a sled towed behind, making this a perfect family adventure.

With snow-covered forests and frosty landscapes all around, this festive ride is a joyful way to embrace the spirit of Lapland. Upgrade to your own single snowmobile if you wish, and warm up to the magic of the season on this unforgettable Arctic journey.

Duration: approx. 2 hours

  • All drivers must be 18 years+ and bring a full, valid photographic driver's licence with them to the excursion.
  • Children must be aged 11 years or above and at least 140cm tall to ride as a passenger on a snowmobile; they must be able to touch the footrest when sitting on the snowmobile.
  • Children under this height or aged 15 years and younger will be in a sled towed behind the guide.
  • Single riders who have purchased a sharing snowmobile may need to upgrade locally to a single-driving snowmobile if a shared snowmobile is not available.

Step into the wilderness and explore the vast open fells of Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park in search of the Northern Lights. You will be guided through the snow laden forests and up to the open, treeless fells, where panoramic views stretch endlessly as far as the eye can see. Along the way, your guide will share stories about Arctic nature and life in Finnish Lapland, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to capture unforgettable photos of the stunning landscapes.

As darkness falls, the air is crisp and the dark sky glitters with countless stars overhead. Away from the light pollution, you'll have the best chance to witness the Northern Lights as they sweeps across the sky in waves of vibrant green, purple, and pink. Whether you're rewarded with a dazzling aurora display or simply the beauty of a crystal-clear winter night, this snowshoe adventure promises an authentic taste of the magic and wild spirit of Finnish Lapland.
