About Juutua Arctic Aurora Adventure

Experience Lapland to the fullest on one of our Juutua Arctic Aurora Adventure packages. Choose between three inclusive packages;  2 night breaks departing on Mondays or Wednesdays, a 3 night break departing on Fridays, or a 4 night holiday departing on Mondays. Each package features a full itinerary, combining guided arctic experiences with free time to unwind. Activities may include husky safaris, reindeer encounters, snowmobiling through frozen forests and Northern Lights adventures under the star studded skies.

Throughout your stay, you’ll stay at the charming Wilderness Hotel Juutua in Inari, just a short transfer from Ivalo Airport.  Located along the shores of Juutua River in the Sámi Village Inari, the hotel offers the perfect blend of modern comfort and authentic Lappish charm. Having served guests for over 80 years, Hotel Juutua is the second oldest hotel in the whole of Lapland. The hotel has recently been renovated including all the bedrooms and an expansion to the hotels restaurant ‘Aanaar’. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner alongside incredible scenery as you dine on the riverbank.

From the moment you arrive, you’re immersed in the stillness of the far north, surrounded by forests, frozen rivers and vast open skies - an unforgettable backdrop for a true Lapland escape.

Wilderness Hotel Juutua is offered on a full board basis with breakfast, lunch and dinner included in your stay. 

Meals are served in the Aanaar restaurant, which values fine dining and tells the story of the northern wilderness through award-winning cuisine. 

The kitchen creates dishes unique to Lapland, so you can expect to try some of the local cuisine during your stay, including fish from Lake Inari. 

Your first included meal is dinner on your day of arrival, and your final included meal is breakfast on your day of departure.

Wilderness rooms sleep up to two people. These rooms have double beds and a bathroom with shower. These rooms have a cosy atmosphere and are located in the main hotel building.

Arctic premium rooms are around 25 m2 sleeping two people, with either twin or double beds. Situated in separate buildings just a short distance from the reception and restaurant, these rooms provide a modern and comfortable retreat. Each room has a shower, fridge and free Wi-Fi.

Your exciting itinerary

Whether you're staying 2, 3 or 4 nights, you'll have a whole host of exciting activities included in your holiday. You'll receive your full itinerary of activities when you arrive at Juutua, which may differ from the days and timings in the example sample itinerary below. 

You will be greeted at Ivalo Airport by the Wilderness guides, and directed to your transfer, ready for the short drive to the Wilderness Hotel Juutua. As you arrive at the Juutua Wilderness Lodge, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your local guides who will introduce you to the lodge and the experiences ahead. You’ll then be fitted with your thermal winter clothing, ensuring you stay warm and comfortable throughout your stay. 

Today you will meet a local reindeer herder and his herd. At the reindeer farm, immerse yourself in the stories of the reindeer, discover what daily life is like for a herder, and gain insight into Sámi culture. This journey will be guided by car.

As evening falls, set out on a thrilling snowmobile safari beneath the arctic sky. You will head out to areas around the resort, where the chance of seeing the Northern Lights are at their highest. Halfway through, pause at a crackling campfire and enjoy a warming drink under the star studded sky. With a touch of luck, the Aurora Borealis may appear, shimmering across the dark sky. The driving distance depends on the weather conditions.

  • All drivers must be 18 years + and bring a full, valid photographic driver's licence with them to the excursion

After breakfast, you will check out and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Take a moment to soak in the final glimpses of the snowy landscapes and reflect on the unforgettable experiences of your winter adventure before boarding your flight home.

Arrive at Ivalo Airport, where you’ll be met for your transfer to the Juutua in the village of Inari. Upon arrival, you’ll collect your thermal clothing and head to your room to settle in. 

Husky safari

Experience the thrill of snowmobiling through the arctic tundra. Fly across frozen lakes and zip between untouched snow-covered trees. Each snowmobile is shared between two people and you'll have the chance to change drivers halfway. 

  • Duration: 2 hours 

Arctic Sauna Visit and Jacuzzi 

Warm up and watch the snowy day go by from the warmth of the sauna. You’ll even have access to a jacuzzi overlooking the rapids of Juutua River.

  • Duration: 1.5 hours

Aurora camp

Head out into the wilderness of Lake Inari and experience the beauty of the night sky without light pollution. You’ll have the opportunity to try and catch the Northern Lights as you take a snowmobile-drawn sleigh ride to the Aurora campsite, where you’ll hear stories about the Aurora Borealis over a hot drink by the fire.

Snowmobile safari

Experience the thrill of snowmobiling through the arctic tundra. Fly across frozen lakes and zip between untouched snow-covered trees. Each snowmobile is shared between two people and you'll have the chance to change drivers half way.

SIIDA Sámi Museum & Nature Centre 

Learn about the rich and varied history of the Sámi people and their role in modern day Lapland. Explore the nature centre to find out more about Northern Lapland's flora and fauna. Visit the local handicrafts shop for a special souvenir. 

  • Duration: 3 hours

Aurora workshop

Learn everything there is to know about the natural phenomenon that is the Northern Lights. Take your own camera with you and get the best settings optimised for photographing this incredible light display.

  • Duration: 1 hour

After breakfast, you will make your way to the airport for your flight back to the UK, taking one last opportunity to enjoy the snowy scenery and the memories of your arctic adventure.

Arrive at Ivalo Airport, where you’ll be met for your transfer to the Juutua in the village of Inari. Upon arrival, you’ll collect your thermal clothing and head to your room to settle in. 

Snowmobile adventure

Enjoy a longer safari that includes lunch. Spend the day like a local and have fun exploring Arctic wilderness by snowmobile. All snowmobiles are shared, with one of you driving and the other enjoying the ride as a passenger. Half way, you'll stop for lunch around an open fire, and have the chance to switch drivers if you like.

Remember you'll need to show your valid driving licence in order to drive the snowmobiles. 

Duration: 4 hours 

Gentle snowshoe 

Take a gentle, scenic stroll through beautiful snowy surroundings with a knowledgeable guide who will share stories about the local animals and nature.

Duration: 2 hours

Husky Sleigh 

3 & 4 night stays: Mush your team of dogs on an exciting adventure through icy forests and across snowy fells. Meet the eager team of huskies before gliding through the incredible arctic landscape. Each sledge is shared between two people - one of you will start off driving the team of huskies, while the other sits in the sleigh and you'll have the chance to swap halfway. 

Duration: 3 hours

Aurora camp 

Head out into the wilderness of Lake Inari and experience the beauty of the night sky without light pollution. You’ll have the opportunity to try and catch the Northern Lights as you take a snowmobile-drawn sleigh ride to the Aurora campsite where you’ll hear stories about the Aurora Borealis over a hot drink by the fire.

Meet the Reindeer

4-night stays: Head over to the local reindeer farm to meet some of the herders and their reindeer. Reindeer are an important part of Lappish culture and this excursion gives you the opportunity to learn everything there is to know about Finland’s favourite furry companion.

Duration: 2 hours

After breakfast, you will make your way to the airport for your flight back to the UK, taking one last opportunity to enjoy the snowy scenery and the memories of your arctic adventure.

  • The above itineraries are an example; a detailed daily itinerary with days and times will be given upon arrival.

  • All activities are guided group trips with English-speaking guides and include full safety instructions.

  • Snowmobile Safaris:

    • Based on two people sharing one snowmobile.

    • For odd-numbered groups, snowmobiles are still shared unless a single drive supplement is paid (payable locally):

      • 100€/person for up to 3-hour tours.

      • 200€/person for 4–6 hour tours.

    • Drivers must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driving license with them.

    • Self-liability (own risk) fee is 1000€/snowmobile in case of an accident.

    • Children under 15 ride in a sleigh during snowmobile tours.

  • Husky Safari:

    • Guests drive the husky sleds themselves.

    • Usually, two people share one husky team and switch drivers halfway through.

  • Once in the resort itinerary is subject to change due to safety or unforeseen circumstances.

    • Any changes will aim to closely match the original program.
