Offering luxury service, on-the-piste location, and gourmet dining, the Hotel Kesselspitze is an unforgettable choice for an Austrian getaway.

Ski in, ski out

You couldn't be closer to the piste as the Hotel has a ski in, ski out location with direct access to the slopes.

The beginner area is a snowball's throw from the Hotel's doorstep, and more experienced skiers can access the entire Obertauern ski area from the nearby Achenrain and Schaidberg lifts.

The hotel runs a free shuttle service to the centre of Obertauern so you can explore the resort just as easily as the slopes.

Gourmet dining

Whether you're craving traditional Austrian cuisine or international flavours, the menu has something to please every palate. The talented chefs use fresh, locally sourced ingredients in all their dishes. Three times a week the fondue room is open, offering a variety of unique entrees and several fondue cooking styles, payable locally.

Entertainment

After a day on the slopes there is plenty to keep you busy, including a 200m² spa area with 80m² indoor fresh water pool, Finnish and bio sauna, aroma steam bath, and salt cave. Try out the hot whirlpool under open skies for something extra special.

Families can take advantage of the supervised Maro kids' club for 3-12 years and the multimedia gaming room.

Obertauern

  • Resort altitude: 1,740 metres
  • 150 kms of skiing in the region
  • 87 km blue, 52 km red and 11 km of black slopes
  • Transfer time: approx. 1 hour 30 minutes by coach from Salzburg airport

Obertauern has one of the longest seasons in the Alps: winter lasts until early May. With high-altitude queue-free skiing, traditional Austrian après-ski and ski-in/ski-out hotels, Obertauern is a real treasure in the Salzburg ski region, deservedly gaining in popularity with British guests.

Skiing and snowboarding in Obertauern

Obertauern is Austria's only purpose-built ski resort which means ski-in, ski-out from almost all hotels. You can expect high altitude skiing from 1,740m to 2,526m and 100km of slopes served by 26 lifts.

Obertauern has the best guarantee of snow in Salzburgerland. There’s a well-linked circuit, almost entirely above the treeline on both sides of the Tauern pass valley. Surrounded by the spectacular peaks of the Radstädter Tauern, the Skicircus is suitable for all levels and great for mixed ability groups.

Where to stay in Obertauern

Ski-in, ski-out hotels and guaranteed snow makes Obertauern one of the most desirable resorts in Austria. The town itself is a mix of traditional chalet style buildings with more modern architecture. We offer a range of 4-5 star hotels all with excellent locations and most properties include spa and wellness facilities with your stay. The slopes and lifts form a circuit around the village which makes it easy to get around.

Bars and restaurants in Obertauern

Après-ski is lively at the many huts dotted around the mountain and even more so at the bottom of the slopes. With the addition of the nearby Mauterndorf ski area, a further 50km of piste and 9 more lifts are available to Obertauern lift pass holders, a free 20 minutes ski bus ride connects the two resorts.
