About Hotel Hochfilzer

This authentic Austrian hotel, owned by the Hochfilzer family since 1832, is famed for its high standards of cuisine and service. The cosy and welcoming hotel consists of two parts: the main hotel and the three-star ‘Haus Garden’ across the road.

Hotel Hochfilzer offers an oasis of wellbeing facilities for you, including a indoor heated swimming pool and whirlpool. The panorama sauna and sky sauna are both open daily and have dream views of the Wilder Kaiser. End your day in the steam bath and let your muscles relax with aromatic scents and a sparkly starry sky. There are also massage and beauty treatments available to book and pay for locally.

Haus Garten Austrian twin rooms are around 15m² and have bath or shower. These rooms are located in the annex directly opposite the hotel. 

Komfort Austrian twins are more spacious at 20-25m². These rooms have a shower, a balcony and can sleep up to three using the extra single sofa bed.

Komfort Plus Austrian twin rooms are about 18m² and have bath or shower, as well as a balcony.

Deluxe Austrian twins offer the most space at 30-35m². These rooms have a bath and can sleep up to four (double sofa bed). Please call to book this room category as they are on a request basis.

Standard single rooms are around 15-18m² and have a shower.

The attractive village of Ellmau is situated between the rugged Wilder Kaiser (Wild Emperor) mountains and the more gentle Kitzbüheler Alps. Located between the villages of Going and Scheffau, Ellmau lies within the vast SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental Area which links several resorts enabling access to 270km of piste. 

Ellmau has wide and gentle nursery slopes which are close to the centre. A ski bus ride to the main lift will open the wider ski area with plenty of intermediate and more demanding runs. And to make your ski holiday even more enjoyable, a ten-seater gondola transports skiers to 1,530m in less than nine minutes, and all cabins have Wi-Fi and heated seats for ascent and descent.

If you’d rather skip the uphill, lifts like the Hartkaiserbahn offer pedestrian access (payable locally), making higher routes more accessible without needing a ski pass.
