About Hotel La Stua

La Stua is a charming, family-run hotel in the heart of San Cassiano, just 800 metres from the nearest ski lift. Known for warm hospitality and personal service, it’s a great base for exploring the Alta Badia ski area.

After a day on the slopes, relax in the wellness area, exclusively for hotel guests. Facilities include a Finnish sauna, infrared cabin, Turkish bath, Kneipp path and two whirlpools, plus a quiet zone with herbal teas for unwinding.

The hotel’s traditional Tyrolean style creates a cosy mountain feel. Bedrooms are warmly decorated and the welcoming lounge is perfect for relaxing with friends and family in the evenings.

Enjoy meals in the hotel's elegant dining room with great views of the surrounding area. The hotel provides breakfast every day and dinner six days a week. On Thursdays the restaurant is closed which is the perfect opportunity to explore the local San Cassiano restaurants.

  • A buffet breakfast is ready and waiting for you each morning with plenty of choice. 
  • Dinner is a three course set menu with a choice of main. The head chef and his team prepare a mixture of classic recipes and typical Tyrolean dishes as well as a preparing a salad and vegetable buffet.
  • Once a week you can enjoy a typical Ladino dinner with soups, spätzle, canederli, polenta and dried meats including speck from the Alto Adige.
  • After dinner, we recommend a drink at the bar where you can sit by a crackling fire and chat about where you plan to ski the next day.

In Italy, it’s common for hotels not to provide tap water during meal service. Still and sparkling bottled water can be easily purchased locally.

Discover San Cassiano

San Cassiano is a delightful village in the Alta Badia area of the Dolomites, well positioned between La Villa and Cortina, and close to Armentarola, with its famous horse-drawn ski-lift! A stunning array of dramatic Dolomite peaks provides an unforgettable backdrop to the incredible 1,200km of varied skiing, which is easily accessible from the resort’s main Piz Sorega gondola.

San Cassiano has easy access to the legendary Sella Ronda circuit and wider Dolomiti Superski area, so you can enjoy venturing out towards the surrounding areas of the Val Gardena, Arabba, and Val di Fassa with a Dolomiti Superski lift pass.  The highlight of San Cassiano is definitely a trip to the ski run from Lagazuoi and through the hidden valley, there's also a good mix of slopes in the Alta Badia local area, from cruisy blues in Colfosco to challenging black runs in La Villa.

Things to do in San Cassiano

Tobogganing is fun for the whole family, take the Piz Sorega lift up to the Tru Liösa Foram sledge run and enjoy the thrill of whizzing down the mountain, through snowy the Alpine pastures.

Ski from hut to hut and sample some of the delicious dishes created by local chefs and learn about the stories behind them. Enquire with your representative or the tourist information for further details.

There are some incredible snowshoeing routes around San Cassiano where you can discover picture perfect views over Alta Badia. There are a variety of groomed and signposted routes which can easily be reached from San Cassiano or the nearby villages of La Villa and Covara, start your morning in San Cassiano and enjoy a scenic hike up to Pralongia, or take reach new heights and head towards the Fanes plateau.

About 3km from San Cassiano you'll find the cross country ski centre, with over 26 kilometers of trails for all abilities, through forests and Medows, shadowed by the snowy Dolomiti mountains.
