Reindeers are famously gentle creatures, despite their stature and are a peaceful way to see Lapland. Local people have worked with reindeer for many generations and they are a part of the locals way of life. 

Our animal winter excursions are designed so that you have the best possible Lapland experience. Our excursions with all these wonderful animals will help you capture the magic and create lasting memories of this amazing place.

Time with the reindeers is certainly special, whether you want to say hello or you take a sleigh ride with them - it is worth taking the time to slow down and enjoy them as well as your surroundings.

Our excursions are added extras you can book as part of your Lapland holiday.

Good to know - 

There are two activity choices to choose from when decding who you would like to interact with the Reindeer of Lapland: 'Discovery & Adventure' or Herding & Picnic'. Read more below. 

Discover the ways you can experience Reindeer Rides on your Lapland holiday

From £125 per adult / £85 per child

A quintessential part of your Lapland visit is to experience is a reindeer sleigh ride. Visit an authentic reindeer farm and learn all about the reindeer. You will then be taken on a serene sleigh ride through snowy forests, guided by a Sami guide and their reindeer. The visit includes a farm visit where you can learn about the reindeer. 

Duration: 1.5 hours at farm

  • To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, infants 0-1 years are not permitted.

Step into a winter wonderland with a memorable reindeer safari and farm visit in the heart of Finnish Lapland. Glide through the snowy forest in a traditional reindeer-pulled sleigh, taking in the peaceful surroundings and magical Arctic scenery at a gentle pace — just as the Sámi people have done for generations. 

Duration: 1.5 hours at farm

  • To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, this excursion is available for children aged 3 years and above. Infants 0-2 years are not permitted.

Duration: 2 hours (1 hour at the Wilderness Centre) including a talk from a reindeer herder

  • From January onwards, lunch is included in this excursion.
  • Children must be over the age of 3 to take part in this excursion. Infants 0-2 years are not permitted.

Visit an authentic reindeer farm, where you’ll learn all about these gentle arctic animals and their importance to Sami culture. Warm up with a traditional soup lunch before heading out on a serene sleigh ride through snowy forests, guided by a Sami guide and their reindeer. 

Duration: 2.5 hours

  • Children must be over the age of 3 to take part in this excursion. Infants 0-2 years are not permitted.

Reindeer Discovery and Adventure 

Visiting a local reindeer farm gives you an evocative picture of the traditional lifestyle, in which reindeer play a central part. You will hear great stories from your hosts and learn all about the reindeer.

Ride in a reindeer sleigh through the snowy fells and forests, which feels as if you have entered the secret world of Narnia through a magic wardrobe.

Reindeer Herding Experience and Picnic

You now have truly a special, once in a lifetime chance to experience something only very few in the world have - immerse yourself in the world of authentic reindeer herding lifestyle!

Enjoy the warmth of a campfire whilst grilling homemade sausages or having sandwiches. Have a cup of coffee or tea and just relax.

An exciting excursion to visit Santa is included as part of your Santa Breaks package to Levi. You'll also have the choice to add other activities like snowmobiling, husky sledding and a reindeer sleigh ride to your holiday.
