About Ylläs Log Cabins

The charming Ylläs Log Cabins are the perfect base for your next ski adventure. Surrounded by the snow-covered landscape of Ylläs, each cabin offers a cosy retreat after a day on the slopes. The slopes and ski school are around three kilometres away, with the ski bus stopping conveniently outside the Äkäs Hotel. For cross-country enthusiasts, there are plenty of trails dotted around the village.

The cabins are spread across the village of Äkäslompolo. Some are close to the resort centre, while others are tucked away in quieter corners of Äkäslompolo. With a variety of sizes and layouts, they suit couples, families, and larger groups looking for cosy cabin style accommodation in Finland.

All of the cabins are unique. Some are crafted from traditional round pine logs, while others feature a modern design with flat planed logs. They can be terraced, end of terrace, or semi detached. The Finnish certainly know how to warm up, each cabin comes with a private sauna and a fireplace, so you can relax and warm up after a day of skiing.

Ylläs is a fantastic arctic ski resort, offering extensive slopes for all levels, as well as cross-country trails that stretch across the arctic landscape. Given the remote location of the cabins, you may even spot the green and red hues of the Northern Lights lighting up the dark night sky. Optional activities like snowmobiling, reindeer and husky rides, or snowshoeing can complement your ski adventure, while evenings are perfect for unwinding in your sauna or in front of the fire.

The large village supermarket is up to 1 kilometre from the cabins (around a 5 to 30 minute walk). There's also a selection of cafés and restaurants for those who prefer to dine out.

For guests with reduced mobility, we recommend the Villa Armas Cabins, which are situated closer to the resort amenities including the Akas Hotel.

The Ylläs Log Cabins are offered on a self catered basis. You can choose to upgrade to half board, which includes a hearty breakfast and a three-course buffet-style dinner, served at the Äkäs Hotel.

Each cabin features a well-equipped kitchen, so you can prepare delicious meals from the comfort of your own space. A large supermarket is located in the village centre and is open until 9pm (opening hours to be confirmed locally). You’ll also find a handful of cosy restaurants dotted around the village.

To make your holiday even more relaxing, you can pre-book the optional half-board supplement. Start each day with a generous breakfast buffet and return in the evening for a satisfying three-course dinner, both served at the Äkäs Hotel.
