What to expect
We’ll take you to some of the most scenic spots in the Saalbach Hinterglemm area, with four included guided walks led by our knowledgeable local guides. We keep the group small, with a maximum of 20 guests, making it easy to get to know your fellow walkers from the very first walk. Whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple or with friends, there’s a friendly, sociable feel throughout the week, with plenty of shared moments on the trails.
There’s also time built in for you to explore at your own pace or simply enjoy the mountain atmosphere between walks. With around 400km of marked summer walking trails, there are routes to suit different abilities and interests, so you’ll have plenty of mountain scenery to discover.
Your included Joker Card gives you a range of benefits to make the most of your stay, while evenings are relaxed and sociable, with time to chat over dinner and swap stories from the day.
For a little extra fun, join our Inghams Quiz Night for some friendly competition and plenty of laughs. It’s a well-balanced week of guided walking, free time and sociable moments – all with a group of like-minded walkers to enjoy it with.
Inghams Walking Group Holiday itinerary
Take time to unpack, unwind and settle into your new surroundings.
Start the day with the Inghams Welcome Walkabout, where you’ll meet your Destination Experts and discover what there is to see and do in and around Saalbach-Hinterglemm. You’ll also receive your Joker Card, provided by the hotel at check-in - this gives you free access to the lifts and public transport.
Then, there’s some free time to explore the villages of Saalbach and Hinterglemm. You can easily stroll between them along the path that follows the Saalbach River, or hop on the walker’s bus, which is free with your Joker Card. Alternatively, make the most of your hotel’s spa and wellness facilities, with a relaxing sauna area featuring a Swiss stone pine sauna, infusion sauna, steam room, infrared loungers, multi-sensory shower, waterbeds and relaxation area.
After dinner, put your general knowledge to the test at the Inghams Quiz Night! Team up with fellow guests, battle it out over a few rounds and get to know some new faces along the way.
Starting from the Talschluss Hinterglemm Mitterlengau bus stop, this is a lovely, easy walk around the end of the Glemm Valley with a lunch stop at the rustic Ossmannalm Hut which has a beautiful sunny terrace from why to enjoy the view. The scenery is lush and green, with Alpine meadows, shady forests and fantastic views of the surrounding mountains of the Staffkogel, Tristkogel, Gamshag and Schusterkogel. After the walk, make the most of the area and everything there is to do, including the Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps (payable locally) and the connecting Treetop Trail (fun for all ages).

- Walking time: approx. 3.5 hours
- Ascent/descent: 300m ascent and descent
- Terrain: Mainly gravel road, footpath or forest trail (can be quite uneven in places)
- Useful information: There will be a lunch stop at the Ossmannalm Hut (payable locally). Use of the hikers' bus to and from Talschluss is included with the Joker Card.
Get up to 1,819m on this spectacular walk from the Reiterkogel cable car to the peak of the Reiterkogel Mountain. Enjoy views over the Saalbach Hinterglemm Valley on the way up past mountain reservoirs and through forests and Alpine meadows. Take a picture with the summit cross at the top - the views from the peak are the ultimate reward for the climb. Descend to the beautiful Reiteralm Hut for refreshments (payable locally), then the route back to the lift passes through the Alpine herb garden where you can see over 80 local herbs and plants.

- Walking time: Approx. 4 hours
- Ascent/descent: 400m ascent and descent
- Terrain: Mainly gravel road, footpath or forest trail (can be quite uneven in places)
- Useful information: There will be a lunch stop at the Reiteralm Hut (payable locally). Use of the Reiterkogel cable car is included with the Joker Card.
It's all about the views on this walk, and you can spot Lake Zell and the snow-capped peaks of some of Austria's mountain giants - the Grossvenediger and the Grossglockner (Austria's highest mountain) in the distance. You walk along mountain paths from the top of the Westgipfel cable car up to the Stemmerkogel Mountain at 2,123m, before dropping down through Alpine meadows to the Hacklbergeralm Hut (the descent is fairly steep) for a lunch stop. The views are incredible and look out for wildflowers on the way.

- Distance: 9km
- Walking time: Approx. 3.5 hours
- Ascent/descent: 250m ascent and 760m descent
- Terrain: Mainly mountain path, dirt road or forest trail (can be quite uneven and steep in places)
- Useful information: There will be a lunch stop at the Hacklbergeralm Hut (payable locally). Use of the Westgipfel cable car is included with the Joker Card.
You can see for miles on this scenic walk. It follows a panoramic forest path from the top of the Kohlmais cable car - there's impressive views of the limestone peaks of the Lofer, Leogang and Saalfelden mountains in the distance and on a clear day you can see some of Germany's tallest mountains too. After a welcome lunch stop at the Wildenkarhütte, by a pretty mountain lake, we continue to the middle station of the Kohlmais lift. Look out for marmots and wildflowers on the way.

- Walking time: Approx. 4 hours
- Ascent/descent: 300m ascent and 600m descent
- Terrain: Mainly forest trail, gravel road or footpath (can be quite uneven in places)
- Useful information: There will be a lunch stop at the Wildenkarhütte (payable locally). Use of the Kohlmais cable car is included with the Joker Card.
Today is a free day to relax or explore as much as you want, soak up the last of the mountain atmosphere and enjoy all the views. Head up the Penken lift for a stroll, or explore further afield by taking the bus to the Schlegeis Reservoir or Hintertux Glacier. Or, find a cosy spot in the Kramerwirt spa and relax with your book, the view from the rooftop whirlpool is quite special. Today is a free day to relax or make the most of your final day in Saalbach Hinterglemm. Take a stroll between Saalbach and Hinterglemm along the riverside path, stopping for a coffee in one of the pedestrianised village centres, or head up into the mountains to find a traditional mountain hut and enjoy the views. For something a little more adventurous, try the Flying Fox, take on the Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps or get your adrenaline flowing with a canyoning adventure. Or, simply find a sunny spot, soak up the mountain atmosphere and enjoy a leisurely final day out exploring or make the most of the hotel's facilities just one last time!
