Sample Salzburg city break itinerary
- Start your day with a climb (or funicular ride) up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress, which has watched over the city for more than 900 years. Wander through its ramparts, museums and towers, and pause at the café to enjoy a drink with sweeping views across Salzburg’s rooftops to the Alps.
- Head back down to the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site packed with baroque architecture and pastel façades. Stroll along the Getreidegasse, one of Europe’s prettiest shopping streets, and stop to see Mozart’s birthplace before settling into a café for a slice of cake or a glass of local wine.
