If you choose to stay at Hotel Teresa on your next trip to the Dolomites, you’re in for a treat. You’ll find yourself surrounded by unspoiled nature. It’s located in the village of San Vigilio di Marebbe at the foot of the famous Plan de Corones mountains. From the local stone and wood used to build the property to the ingredients and recipes used in the cooking here, it all links back to the local Landin Culture in this part of Alto Aidge.
It’s the perfect base for an active holiday. The areas known for its hiking trails, road biking and mountain biking with lots of downhill and free ride paths to choose from. If you want to head up into the mountains, the Pedagà-Piz de Plaies cable car is just 300 metres away. The Schanung-Vallazza family and their team here, really know their stuff. They’re experts on the area and are always happy to offer advice and recommendations on where to head for the day. They even offer free excursions – we absolutely loved going out wildlife watching with David, the owner, in the UNESCO National Park. He taught us so much about the regions flora and fauna as we went. If you’re lucky you might even catch sight of eagles flying overhead.
The rooms all have a really homely feel, with private balconies and great views of the natural surroundings. If you can, we’d recommend upgrading to the Superior Rooms, they are just that bit larger and have been decorated in a more modern alpine style. The food here is definitely something to shout about. All rooted in local tradition, they serve hearty Landin cuisine that really hits the spot after a day out in the mountains. With four courses, you won’t go hungry! They are committed to sustainability and have collaborated with local farms and organisations to make sure that the produce is “zero kilometre” where possible. Don’t leave without trying the fresh fruit liqueurs in the bar – they’re the perfect aperitif!
