Information on ski insurance
Hitting the slopes this winter? Before you go, make sure you’ve got the right travel insurance in place. If you’re new to skiing or snowboarding, check that your policy covers winter sports, including any activities you’re planning to try.
We advise booking your travel insurance as soon as you’ve booked your holiday. That way, you’re covered for unexpected events before you set off, as well as during your time away. It’s one less thing to worry about, so you can focus on the fun bit – getting out on the slopes.

EssentialsSki insurance FAQs
Inghams is an Unregulated Introducer of Campbell Irvine Ltd who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We don't sell our own holiday insurance. You can purchase insurance with our recommended provider for walking holidays here and for winter sport specific travel here. It is a condition of booking with us that you and your party take out suitable hiking and winter sports Insurance from a reputable provider. Please note that a standard travel insurance policy, including many ‘free’ bank and credit card policies, will not cover hiking to an altitude above 2000m or winter activities such as skiing, husky, reindeer and snowmobile safaris and we ask you to please check with your insurance policy provider that you have adequate cover for any activities you plan to participate in, including the optional Guided Walks.
For the quick answer- many basic travel insurance policies deliberately exclude cover for any winter sports related injuries or incidents (including the theft of expensive skis and snowboards). This is because there is a much higher chance that you will suffer an injury (that might lead to medical treatment, hospital stays and evacuation back to the UK) doing winter sports than you would in another holiday scenario.
