The Mayr family pride themselves on spoiling guests with hearty evening meals and service. Each morning you can fuel up for the day at the extensive breakfast buffet with various different regional products, freshly prepared eggs and specialty sausages.

When you return from a day on the slopes an afternoon snack is served to keep you going until dinner, where tasty three course evening meal is served with a choice of menu. After dinner enjoy a drink in the cosy hotel bar before heading to bed.

Filzmoos is a charming alpine village, part of the expansive Ski Amadé region with over 760 kilometres of slopes for all abilities. Covering five different regions with 25 ski resorts, there is plenty for intermediate and advanced skiers to explore. You can easily access the Ski Amadé region using local buses which run regularly and are payable locally.

Discover Filzmoos

Filzmoos is a truly idyllic mountain village where little has changed over the years. It has an excellent snow record, superb panoramic views and downhill runs straight into the village.

Nestling in between the Bischofsmütze and Dachstein mountains, the resort has much to offer both the skier and the non skier. Wherever you ski, the slopes are usually uncrowded and lift queues non-existent.

With wide, quiet slopes, Filzmoos is ideal for families. There’s some lovely glade skiing off piste, and cross-country enthusiasts can enjoy the 14km high-altitude Rossbrand trail.

Things to do in Filzmoos

Balloon Night (Nacht der Ballone) is held annually in January as part of the Hanneshof Hot Air Balloon Week. As darkness falls, hot air balloons take to the skies in an illuminated display against the snowy mountain backdrop. The evening also features live entertainment, traditional Austrian food, and concludes with a dazzling fireworks show.

Balloon Night will take place on 10th January 2026.

Relax and unwind after an exhilarating day on the slopes at the Filzmoos Leisure Centre. Take a dip in the large indoor swimming pool or unwind in the sauna world wellness area with three saunas, a steam bath and a peaceful relaxation room.

The complex also has two bowling alleys, fun court and a café. 

Enjoy the beautiful alpine scenery as you whizz down the Kleinbergalm toboggan run. 

The Kleinbergalm can be reached on foot from the centre of the village or on the Grossberg chairlift. You can also toboggan down the illuminated run in the evening. Sleds can be rented locally.

Curling in Filzmoos is a popular and traditional winter sport, offering a fun and sociable activity for groups. Enjoy friendly competitions on the ice rink, with equipment provided and warm refreshments available.

Enjoy the serene beauty of the alpine scenery on a snowshoe hike through the snow covered forests and meadows. Suitable for all fitness levels, snowshoeing is an excellent way of exploring the beautiful alpine landscape surrounding Filzmoos.

Sleigh rides in Filzmoos offer a magical journey through snowy landscapes, with horse-drawn sleighs taking you to cosy alpine huts. Enjoy the serene beauty of the winter scenery, the gentle sound of sleigh bells, and warm refreshments at the Hofalmen. Perfect for families and couples seeking a romantic winter experience.

There's 50km of marked walking trails through the forests surrounding Filzmoos , ranging from easy walks to challenging alpine hikes. Enjoy stunning views of the Bischofsmütze and Dachstein mountains, with numerous alpine huts providing rest stops and refreshments. Popular trails include the Rossbrand High Altitude Trail, Hofalmen, and Schwaigalm.
