Discover Niederau

Wild and beautiful – hence the name of one of the Tyrol’s loveliest and most unspoilt valleys. Even though Innsbruck is just under two hours away it could be a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Niederau, the first and biggest of the the Wildschönau's traditional and charming villages, is ideal for beginners looking to progress from blues and intermediate skiers who want testing runs too. Auffach, at the end of the valley, has some more challenging runs, plus some hidden gems. Niederau, Auffach and Alpbach are linked to form the Ski Juwel Area. The resort is linked with Oberau too, just 3 kilometres away by free ski bus service.

In recent seasons, the Wildschönau has won awards for ‘Best Family Ski Area’ and ‘Friendliest Staff’, as well as one for excellent piste preparation.

Niederau offers a variety of dining options with a focus on Austrian and European cuisine, alongside other international flavours.

The Hexenhäusl is a popular choice in the centre of Niederau close to the Markbachjoch gondola station. The restaurant has a cosy interior and the menu offers everything from brunch to dinner and cocktails.

Bauernkeller Wildschönau offers hearty home cooking with traditional Austrian dishes. The locally sourced ingredients make it a favourite and the rustic interior is a great place to relax.

Glennie's is another popular spot open for brunch, lunch and dinner. The service here is excellent and the food reviews speak for themselves.

Though quieter than some of the big names in Austrian après, Niederau still has a good choice of bars and restaurants on offer.

Bobo's Heustadl Bar is a popular umbrella bar right on the slopes with reasonably priced food and drinks.

O'Malley's Irish Pub brings Irish flair to the Tyrolean mountains. They have a wide selection of drinks as well as regular events and live music. Whether for après-ski or a relaxed evening, this is the place to end the day in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Dorf 'n' Stub at Hotel Schneeberger offers a cosy atmosphere with billiards, darts, table football, and a dance floor, making it a popular spot for both guests and locals.
