Discover Morzine

Morzine is a pictureque Savoyard town, set in a beautiful valley with traditional chalet style architecture, with access to the vast Portes du Soleil – one of the largest international ski areas in the world, with an incredible 600km of slopes to explore.

The local, friendly skiing terrain is perfect for beginners and intermediates with the Pleney pistes overlooking the town and the 49 lifts linked with Les Gets on the local lift pass. The other side of the valley will take you to the skiing and boarding mecca of Avoriaz with plentiful blues for stylish cruising and the four snow parks and the snow cross course.

More about Morzine

Things to do in Morzine

The Parc des Dérêches sits in the centre of Morzine and is a large complex of sports facilities including a leisure centre, squash & tennis courts, a skateboarding park and more (many outdoor features are often closed during the peak ski season however, reopening when the snow thaws at Morzine level in the early spring). There is an indoor and outdoor ice skating rink, indoor swimming pools and a spa, as well as a gym with fitness classes being held. You can pay locally for entry and access to these facilities.

Spend your days on the pistes and then get ready to whizz around the mountain via snowmobile. You can either drive alone, or take a passenger with you. If you are interested in this activity, it can be booked locally via the tourism office.

Discover a whole new way of experiencing the mountains, and change your perception of skiing forever. If you are brave enough, paragliding is a relaxed and open way of experiencing the beautiful Portes du Soleil from above. Whereas speed riding mixes parachuting, paragliding and skiing is an activity for the most adventurous of folk. All activites can be booked locally through the tourism office.

With plenty to explore both in the resort and across the wider Portes du Soleil area - Morzine is great for winter walking. For easy access to higher ground, just take the lifts as a pedestrian, opening up a network of prepared trails suitable for all abilities. A simple pedestrian pass or an “Aller et Retour” ticket from the Pleney lift makes it easy to head up and start exploring.

From Morzine through to Les Gets and up in Avoriaz, you’ll find a variety of marked routes ranging from gentle village strolls to more scenic mountain paths with sweeping views. Many of the itineraries are dotted with traditional mountain restaurants too, so it couldn't be easier to pause for a well-earned lunch with a view.

Trail maps are available free from the tourist office, along with Nordic guides covering walking routes for all levels, including family-friendly options that start right from the centre of town.

When the slopes empty and night sets in, experience the thrill of a 4km moonlit descent down Pleney - armed with just a sledge, a headtorch, and your sense of adventure. Supervised by professional instructors and piste patrollers, it’s wild, fun, and unforgettable. Kids 8–11 ride tandem with an adult.
